" can i talk to you? " nancy stood in missy's doorframe anxiously.

" uh, sure. " missy put her book down and patted the spot next to her on the bed. " what's up? "

" barb is missing. " nancy shakily breathed out. " something bad has happened to her, i just know it. no one is listening to me. "

" what type of bad? " missy raised an eyebrow at her older sister.

" here, look. " nancy pulled a taped up photo out of her bag and handed it to missy. " do you see that, figure. "

" yeah i do. " missy leaned in and ran her finger over the strange figure in the photo. " what is it? "

" see that's it, i don't know. " nancy got up and paced around missy's room. " but whatever it is, i think it has something to do with barb disappearing. "

" right. when did she go missing? " missy asked, putting the photo down beside her and turning her full attention back to nancy.

" the night of steve's party. " nancy stopped in her spot. " i told her to go home because i wanted to stay longer, i feel awful. "

" welcome to the guilt club. " missy chuckled. " wait who took that photo? "

" jonathan. " nancy almost whispered, still feeling bad for what steve had done to him.

" i know where he might be. let's go, come on. " missy got up and grabbed her jacket off the back of her door, nancy following behind.

" do you think he'll know something? " nancy questioned slipping on her shoes at the front door, missy doing the same.

" i mean hopefully, he was a witness so anything counts at the moment. " missy nodded and opened the door for the two. " how was he there anyways? i don't remember a lot but i definitely don't remember jonathan byers coming to a steve harrington house party. "

" he was out looking for will. " nancy left out the whole story, thinking missy didn't need the stress of it right now. " no way are we walking all the way to the byers. "

" who said anything about walking? " missy grinned and threw the car keys in nancy's direction.

" what, no way. i'm only on my permit still. i can't legally drive without an adult. " nancy shook her head drastically. " i'd rather walk. "

" so boring. " missy huffed and grabbed her skateboard. " good luck keeping up. "

missy and nancy stood in the lobby waiting for jonathan to do whatever he needed to do. the funeral home was depressing and it made missy sad thinking about her own parents shopping for a coffin for her. missy looked in each of the rooms when she caught eye contact with jonathan. he was being led around viewing various coffins.
