Missy watched as her younger sister shoved her mouth with grapes, Holly definitely had the most personality out of the four Wheeler siblings.
"Do you like those grapes, Holly?" Mike raised an eyebrow at the blonde girl, she did a big proud nod in return. Missy quickly looked up as Nancy got up from the table and made her way to the toaster.
"Hey, Mom, I was thinking about staying the night at Stacey's? We were gonna have a girl's night. Romantic comedies, do our nails, gossip..." Nancy suggested as she pulled her toast out of the toaster and then making her way back to the table.
"Sure! That sounds like fun." Karen nodded as she took a bite of her food. "Melissa, why don't you go spend the night at Hailey's? I haven't seen you two together for awhile."
"-No, actually we're not on talking terms right now." Missy sighed, she was dreading having to break it to her mom that Hailey and her weren't friends anymore, she was always her favourite.
"-What? How come?" Karen gasped, shocked as all ever.
"-We got into a fight. It's nothing really, we just need a break from each other." Missy shrugged like it wasn't a big deal but the whole Wheeler family had their mouths dropped in disbelief. Missy and Hailey had been inseparable since they were five, they did absolutely everything together so it was definitely a shock that the two just stopped hanging out.
"-What over?" Mike asked picking at his plate.
"-Just teenage shit, you wouldn't understand." Missy rolled her eyes and got up from the table with her almost full plate.
"-Not hungry?" Karen raised an eyebrow at her daughter as she scraped the rest into the bin.
"-No, not really." Missy spoke in a low tone. Karen simply nodded, not really wanting to push her. "I'm gonna go, get to school early."
"-Yeah, right. Where are you really going Melissa?" Ted looked up from the paper as the rest of table let out shuffled giggles, Missy stood with her arms crossed at her family.
"-You guys really think that lowly of me since my overdose and honestly, I'm over it." Missy snapped at them and they all went dead quite. "That was that scariest thing to happen to me ever. I want to do better for myself and you guys just constantly remind me that you still think I'm a drug addict dropkick." Everyone stayed quite and stared at a teary Missy, unsure of what to say.
Since the day Missy got home everyone treated her differently, like she was sick. Karen Wheeler went into her room every morning at six, checking absolutely everywhere for drugs or anything like that. It was invasive and Missy hated it. Every single day she would wake up and her mom would be rummaging through all her belongs like a drug dog, it drove her insane. Ted never really said anything to her and when he did it was awkward. Mike was still he same with her though, she thought maybe it was because he was too young to understand.
