Episode 6: The First Rehearsal

Night passed and the next day went as usual. Class in the morning, lunch at noon, and class again in the afternoon.

But something was different this time.

Instead of itching to leave the classroom to go home, Taehyun and Kai were incredibly excited for class to end so they could head to their very first band practice.

After exchanging numbers with everyone else at McDonald's yesterday evening, Beomgyu requested for the boys to go to the music hall after class ends so they could practice together for the first time. To everyone's relief, he and Yeonjun were able to book the hall for themselves, which means that no one will disturb them while they occupy it.

Finally, the bell rang shrilly, and Taehyun and Kai bounced out of the classroom before their professor could say 'Have a nice day'.

The two slid down the stairs and ran through the corridors to the music hall, opening the door to find everyone else already gathered.

"Hi guys!" Taehyun exclaimed.

"Hello," Beomgyu waved, in the middle of unpacking his guitar.

"Ready to rehearse?" Yeonjun questioned with a smile.

"Oh yeah!" Kai yelled.

First things first, preparation. Yeonjun and Beomgyu, who came earlier than everyone else, were finished tuning and only had to plug their instruments into the soundbox. Soobin was busy arranging his drums correctly, Kai was occupied with tuning his keyboard, and Taehyun did some vocal warmups in the corner.

"This is amazing," Beomgyu said.

"What is?" Yeonjun questioned.

"This is really happening. We have our own little band now, and we're warming up like all those rock bands we grew up listening to."

Yeonjun smiled.

"I know. I find it incredible too."

After their warmups and tuning, the five boys gathered in the center of the music hall to discuss a tiny bit more.

"So, what exactly do we wanna do?" Soobin asked.

"In what sense?" Beomgyu questioned back.

"Are we gonna write our own songs, or do covers?"

"I was thinking we should play a cover right now. Do any of you perhaps know how to play Deep In Love by DAY6?" Yeonjun asked.

Soobin nodded.

"I do. I'm a MyDay too."

Yeonjun and Beomgyu looked at each other, the biggest grins on their faces.

"Niiceee!!"

"Kai knows how to play it too, and I know the lyrics by heart," Taehyun replied.

"Okay, then let's try it out!"

Beomgyu grabbed his e-guitar, slinging the strap over his chest, and Yeonjun did the same with his bass guitar. Kai stood behind his keyboard, while Soobin sat on his stool behind the drums. Finally, Taehyun adjusted the mic to his height, and waited.

"Should I count?" Beomgyu asked.

"Sure why not," Soobin replied.

"Okay let's get it. Three, two... one two three four!"

Just like a few days ago, Yeonjun started strumming the strings to the beginning of the song individually, letting the bass ring throughout the room slowly, and gradually getting louder.
