Grief

The following morning you wake up on top of the bed in your clothes just like how you'd fell asleep.

Royal duties commence today due to the passing of my Grannie - Queen Elizabeth.

I get up and head for the shower. I stand under the hot water trying to calm my anxiety.

I left Royal duties a long time ago but when the monarch passes I must attend.

I get out the shower and into a black dress that sits past my knees, I pair it with black tights and heels. Samantha knocks on the door ready to do my hair and make up. We'd been friends for a long time meeting when I was here in Scotland.

I call for her to come in and she comes straight to me and hugs me tightly.

"I'm so sorry for your loss Shannon, your grandmother was a wonderful woman."

I give a sad smile and she begins doing my hair.

I couldn't wait for all this to be over so she can finally rest.

Around 2 weeks later the period of mourning was over as was the funeral. I could finally go back to normal life, well as normal as it could be.

I pack a suitcase and get on the first flight to LA to spend sometime with my cousin.

It was my first week here, I was staying in a rented loft apartment which felt super cosy. I focused on myself a lot by going to the gym, taking walks on the beach and even doing puppy yoga. I don't think I took my Airpods out once during the day mainly listening to Podcasts as I get on with it.

After the gym I wander down to Starbucks, standing in the que I look at the cake cabinet trying to choose which one I wanted. Someone grabs my arm and I jump, I turn around and Sebastian is stood infront of me. I take my Airpods out and wrap my arms around him in a friendly hug.

"Hey, how've you been? Sorry to hear about your grandmother..."

"Hiya Sebastian, i'm good thanks i'm just visiting. Not sure how long i'll be here for yet. Thank you for your condolences."

"Um... do I bow to you or something seeing as you're a princess" he asks seriously.

I laugh and shake my head.

"No you don't bow to me, I'm not apart of the Royal Family anymore"

He gives a hearty laugh forgetting about the brunette stood next to him. She clears her throat.

"Um, Shannon this is Ella my girlfriend"

I give her a friendly smile but her face tells me that she wasn't impressed with my interaction with Sebastian.

I order my coffee and Lemon Drizzle cake as we're talking and Sebastian taps his card paying for it.

"You didn't have to do that, but thank you. I appreciate it"

Sebastian smiles at you as Ella returns from the bathroom and they leave the coffee shop.

Pairing them both together wouldn't be my first choice. Sebastian was a sweetheart and Ella had a mean resting bitch face.

"Iced Caramel Macchiato and Lemon Drizzle for Shannon!" The barista shouts, I grab my coffee and cake and head to the beach enjoying the sunshine in my gym shorts and tshirt.
