In my little "sleep", I could hear muffled voices. I groggily opened my eyes and started to sit up. I felt someone grab my arm

"Lucy!" I winced again. "Are you okay?! You scared me!" I looked for the source of the voice and saw that it was Grell. I glared at him sleepily until he let go of my arm.

"I'm fine, I just hate-" Grell shook me, growling, "THEN WHAT THE DEVIL WAS THAT FOR?!" Aw, he cared. I smiled at him and he stopped shaking me.

"Sorry, I just hate arguing. Oh, and don't call me Lucy." He looked at me, confused.

"Why not?" I sighed and pulled a locket from my dresser-I was in my bed so I knew where my stuff was-, tossing it to him. I explained to him, "That's my brother. He died in a car crash. It was-"

"A sunny day," William finished, walking into the room. I looked at him, shocked. "I was there." He then looked at Grell. "You still haven't told her?" Grell busied himself with looking at the picture, allowing William to finish. "We are Grim Reapers. We harvest the souls of the dying, such as your brother. I was the one assigned to collect his soul. When I got there, he was trying to grab a box in the passenger side. I took his soul then. Before he died, however," William paused.

"What? Before he died, what?!" I was shocked, furious, and upset. William pushed his glasses up calmly and finished. "He said, 'Her present', and managed to toss the box at me." I was shaking slightly.

"That isn't possible. H-he gave me this!" I took the locket from Grell and held it up. It was shaking in my hand. "There was nothing else there!" William sighed and pulled a something out of his suit.

"Perhaps this is a bad idea, but you might as well have it now." He tossed something at me. I caught it, looking at it. It was wrapped up in some ridiculous wrapping paper. I pulled the paper off with trembling hands and almost burst into tears. It was a picture of us when I was ten and when he was fourteen. We were making silly faces at the camera and were hugging each other at the same time. I started to tear up. I looked up at William, my eyes burning.

"Why the hell did he give to you?!" I yelled, hating how scared my voice sounded. I wasn't scared. William looked at me and explained, "He knew it wouldn't make it to you if your parents got a hold of it." It was true, my parents would have thrown it away. They hated that day. We drove them crazy with that day because they weren't there, they didn't take us to that place, and it just pushed the fact that they didn't care enough in their faces.
