"God, I'm exhausted - first two hours of computer lab, now biology? It's almost like this school trying to kill us!"
I knew I was ranting a little, but I couldn't help it; Mikan was just looking at me awkwardly, as if she didn't know what to say to that. I mean, I get she's the ultimate nurse or whatever, but even she must dislike biology, even a little!
"I d-don't see the pro-problem... I m-mean, I thi-ink we have a dissection! Tha-that's fun, r-right?"
Offf course she was looking forward to it... I sighed and packed up my stuff, ready to head to the science lab. Mikan walked behind with Hajime though, sort of leaving me on my own, which I didn't mind. It gave me an opportunity to talk with Nagito, who'd been fumbling over his computer for the last five minutes.
"Nagito? C'mon, you're gonna be late - D'you need any help with that?"
"No, no, I don't want to inconvenience you any more than I probably already do... The Ultimate <your talent> interested in scum like me.. Maybe I'm not so unlucky."
I hated his self depreciation, and even after all this time of us dating, he still couldn't accept you just being you - he had to refer you as an Ultimate.
I leant over and sorted out his computer before dragging him off to biology, pulling on his jacket sleeve.
Eventually we got to the science lab, and found the new seating chart, to find I was no longer next to Nagito - we shared a disappointed look before taking my new seat. This was one of the many reasons I hated starting a new school year, everything changed. Seeing that you were next to one of the new students, made me a little uncomfortable- I didn't even know them, so how was I expected to work hard? They weren't even there yet; of course, the new student's late. I started to take out all my stuff, my books and pens, before I felt a presence looming behind me.
"Nishishi~ Hey! I think you're in my seat~"
I looked around then back up at the seating chart, confused: I must've been in the right seat, right? Unless I was just being stupid or—
"Sorry (Y/N), that was a lie. Kokichi Oma, Ultimate Supreme Leader! Can I 'borrow' a pen?"
While I didn't really appreciate the way he said borrow, the main thing I noticed was how he already knew my name - at first I was kind of flattered, but then realised he probably just got it from the seating chart. I handed him a fountain pen, as he held it up to his eyes to look at it... weird, but not so unusual - it did have some inscriptions, but mostly unreadable. Well, to you at least... they were written in some foreign language, one you hadn't learned.
"lerovup ui shio, oli shio ui ti lerovup... a beautiful message - where did you get this?"
"I got it as a gift from Nagito, but more importantly, how can you even read that?"
"It's Draconic - don't worry, not a lot of people know it. It means 'beauty is all, but not all is beauty'... I'm not one for poetry, but even I can't help but find it ironic how it ended up in your hands."
What did he mean by that - was it an attempt at flirting or an insult? I decided not to comment on that, but instead marveled at how he knew what it meant. Of course, I had no way of telling if he was even telling the truth, since the first thing he said to me was a lie. The lesson soon began, and it was a dissection, as Mikan had told me - Kokichi immediately perked up on hearing it. It was the dissection of a heart... where did this school get these from?!
"I'll be pairing you up with whomever you are next to - no deviations!"
Really, Yukizome?! I can't even do *this* with Nagito... still though, it might be fun to do it with Kokichi, since he seemed in his element getting the supplies: goggles, gloves, scalpels, needles, plastic bag, and the heart itself. I could've sworn it was still beating, but that was most likely my imagination. I tossed my hair up in a ponytail, which I didn't often do, but I wanted to keep my hair away from the blood. Kokichi of course already had the gloves on and a scalpel carving into the heart, but I wasn't sure what he was even doing. As he was doing so, his eyes were lit up, the shine in his eyes so prominent and joyful - odd thing to be excited about. But then again, I could see Mikan practically fawning over the heart in her pair with... Nagito...
