A/N: I just needed to get this chapter out before I lost the idea that I had for it, okay? The song for this chapter is Trade Mistakes by Panic! At The Disco, because I fangirl way too hard for Brendon Urie. This is dedicated to everyone who wanted Niam to JUST HAPPEN, because...well, you'll see. Anywho, enjoy! c:
""If I ever leave, I could learn to miss you."
When Liam was about to suggest going back home, for what seemed like the millionth time, Zayn's doctor emerged from the Bradford boy's room.
He walked over, and informed the two that Zayn was supposed to be up soon, and they could see him if they wished. When Liam piped up and asked why Harry and Louis hadn't been able to visit when they had been there, the doctor told them that only two could visit at a time.
Liam had shook his head while Niall paid no mind and went to his friend's room.
For a second, Liam was reluctant about following - but his heart pounded at the thought of leaving Niall alone for even a split second. He didn't care if it was to do something vital; he would never leave Niall. The thought lodged into his mind, he followed his boyfriend.
Niall stood in front of the door for a second, afraid. He didn't want to go inside and see the damage. He didn't want to cry anymore.
When he felt Liam's hand rest of his shoulder, however, he jumped and his fingers found the door handle - cold and smooth. He bit down on his tongue, and jiggled the handle a little. The hand on his shoulder trailed down his arm, slid over the bend on his elbow and over the veins in his wrist, until the tan hand met the paler one.
While Niall's hand shook under his own, Liam sucked in a breath and eased the door open - the smells of cleaning supplies hitting both of their noses. While Liam could feel the fumes making him dizzy, Niall knew that the worst was yet to come as his eyes met Zayn's body.
There were so many bandages, he noted, and realized that the boy had probably injured his head pretty horribly. His leg was incased in plaster, indicating that it was broken, and his exposed arm had stitches up and down - where the glass from the impact sliced him open.
Niall cringed at the thought.
For a second, he just stood there - examining the damage. When he was done, however, he wouldn't move even when he was done. He was afraid to get too close, just in case he tripped over the wires and messed something up. Maybe he was being paranoid, but he was really just trying to be careful and not hurt his best mate any further.
Liam could sense this, and he didn't try to push him inside. Instead, he just stood behind him, and decided to keep his hands to himself.
"God," Niall muttered, and rubbed his sweaty palms on his jeans. "This is...horrid."
It wasn't the worst thing Liam had ever seen, because that had been Niall's big episode where they had to knock him out to put him to sleep. He wouldn't say that, though, for he didn't want to stress him out. He loved him...
"Hey, baby, hush. You're okay," Liam whispered, placing a hand to his younger boyfriend's side. He traced a finger up and down his hip, and Niall shivered. Liam noticed. "He'll be just fine."
Niall willed himself to step out of Liam's embrace, and closer to Zayn.
Liam didn't like it, but he didn't say anything about it. He stood still, eyes drifting down from Niall's hair, to his bottom. Niall shuddered, and Liam worried that he knew he was staring - though it shouldn't have made a difference, considering they were dating. But Liam could note how uncomfortable Niall must have felt. He brought his gaze back up, but he was still peeved that he couldn't look at his boyfriend, but someone else was allowed to touch him in places that Liam was sure he had never been touched in.
