Following night.
Your POVLuna ended up in jail, so I bailed her out. She didn't even spend twenty minutes in the cell.
"Thanks, Y/N," she mumbled.
"Yeah, that's what sisters are for," I told her and she chuckled.
"Now what did you do to end up there?" I questioned.
"I beat my baby daddy's ass in front of the police. He shouldn't have put his hands on my child. I might've also tasered him and pulled his own gun out on him. They stopped me when I started pistol whipping him," she said and I laughed.
"You pistol whipped him with his own gun?" I asked her and she nodded.
"He deserved it. How's Micah?"
"He was asleep with Jess when I left. I had to sneak out," I told her.
"Why?"
"Because when Jess finds out you were in jail, I'm not getting my ass beat with you," I told her and she laughed hard.
"Do you need anything for Elijah's funeral?" I questioned and she sighed.
"No, I got everything and Noname helped out,"she replied.
"How are you?"
"I don't know, Y/N. I'm trying to keep myself together. I just wanna ball up and cry. I just wish he would've listened or that I could've moved him before it came to this. How do you feel?"
"At the moment, I feel nothing. However, I will most like feel something soon," I replied.
"I love you. I know we have our problems, but I really do appreciate you and love you. You're always there for me and I'm sorry for how I use to treat you."
"I love you, too," I told her. We pulled up to the house and I just parked in the drive way instead of letting the garage door up because I didn't want to wake them up. However, when we walked inside, Micah and Jess were watching Bluey in the living room.
"What are you two doing up?" I asked Jess as I kissed her forehead.
"He woke up and didn't wanna go back to sleep," she replied.
"Hi, baby. I bet you had so much fun with Auntie Jess and your bubby," Luna said picking him up. He was so excited to see her. He kissed her cheek and giggled.
"Mommy is gonna take a shower and then I'm gonna come watch Bluey with you, okay?" she told him and he nodded happily. She put him down and he climbed back on the sofa to lay on Jess. Luna went to shower and I decide to make her something to eat. I was hungry too. I made some quesadillas because they were her favorite and you can never go wrong with a quesadilla.
"Bubby," Micah said as he walked into the kitchen.
"What's up?" I asked him and he pointed at the fridge.
"Want some berries?" I asked and he nodded. I got him the cut up berries and put them into a bowl for him. He went back in the living room with the bowl.
"Berries, Jessie," Micah said happily making me smile. The quesadillas were done, so I left Luna's in the microwave. I went in the living room and sat with Jess.
"I missed you," she mumbled before pecking my lips.
"I wasn't gone for that long," I told her and she sighed.
"I know, but still," she replied stealing a bite of my food. She rested her head on my shoulder and yawned.
"Why don't you get in the bed, baby?" I asked and she shook her head. Luna got out of the shower and joined us in the living room with her food. Micah sat on the floor resting his head against her leg.
"Want a bite?" she asked him and he nodded.
"Bubby," he said and pointed at me.
"What?" I question and he giggled before pointing at the tv. I watched the cartoon with him while Jess was dosing off. I placed my plate down and moved her so she'd be more comfortable, which meant I cradled her in my arms. After about an hour, the three were asleep and I was wide awake. I put Micah and Luna in the guest room and carried Jess to our room. She mumbled something in her sleep, but she never woke up. I could her Micah's little feet running to our room. I knew he was having trouble sleeping, but I didn't know how bad it was.
"Bubby," he said softly as he knocked on the door. I opened it and he looked up at me. He sleepily smiled before raising his arms up.
"You wanna sleep with bubby?" I asked him and he nodded. I picked him up and he sighed.
"Eli?" he questioned.
"Eli... Eli isn't here," I told him. He pointed at the vacant bed room. I quietly walked into the room and flicked on the lights. It had hit me like a truck. No matter how pissed off I was at my little brother, he still had a special place in my heart. He was gone. He was still just a kid that got caught up.
"Eli, go?" Micah asked.
"Yeah, he did," I mumbled. I sat in Elijah's gaming chair and took everything in.
"Why couldn't he have listened to me, Micah?" I asked. Micah looked at me as if he understood me.
"He had so much potential, but got tied into the wrong crowd. I feel like such a bad sister because if I would've tried harder, he'd probably still be here. I messed up."
"No, bubby," Micah said wiping my tears.
"He would still be here. He would. I should've just moved him to California or to like Montana. He'd be here," I said as I cried. I closed my eyes and took in the fact that my little annoying, hardheaded brother was gone.
Micah and I sat in his room for about an hour before we decided to get in the bed with Jess. I didn't get enough sleep and when I woke up, I was grumpy. I woke up in the bed by myself and to talking. I walked out of the room to see Luna and Jess talking to each other.
"Why are you two being so loud?" I asked them.
"Sorry, baby," Jess said leaning up to kiss my cheek.
"What's for breakfast?" I asked.
"Blueberry pancakes, bacon, grits and freshly squeezed orange juice," she replied.
"Did Micah get out of bed immediately after you put him there?" Luna asked me.
"Sort of. Twenty minutes had went by before he came knocking on my door," I said and she nodded.
"His sleeping is getting so bad. I wish I could take whatever he's feeling away," she frowned.
"We.. we went in Elijah's room last night," I mumbled looking down trying not to cry again.
"It finally hit, didn't it?" she questioned softly.
"It did. I wish I would've done more."
"We all do. I'm not saying that he deserved it, but he knew that what he was doing was not right. Unfortunately, he has suffered the consequences from it. They had shot him twice before and he just kept going back. The boys were taken into the station today," she told me.
"I hope they don't get off easy," I replied. I went to freshen up before we had breakfast. Micah was nodding off at the table because he was so tired, but he wouldn't let himself sleep. I took him out of his chair and just gently rocked him in my arms. I softly sung XO because it was a song he had gravitated to. He looked a me with his eyes barely opened. The smile on his face made me so happy. I sung the entire song to him and he fell asleep.
"You remember when you use to sing Never Can Say Goodbye to Elijah when he'd have trouble sleeping?" Luna asked. I smiled at the memory and frowned shortly afterwards. Jess rubbed my back.
"The last thing I told Elijah was 'Next time, they won't miss.' I spoke him dying into existence."
