STWNH (Scenario That Will Never Happen)
12/13/22
9:56 AMTaylor woke up, feeling elated. It. Was. Her. Birthday. It's officially started! Yes!
Okay, calm down. You need to calm down.
She went downstairs, hoping to see Joe, except...nothing.
No one. No presents, no nothing. It seemed like a normal day in the house.
Oh. Okay. Maybe Joe was in the backyard? Nope.
She looked everywhere before giving up. That was when she noticed the note on the fridge.
Dear Tay, had to go to set early. Probably a busy day. Might be back at noon or something
Love, JoeSeriously? Taylor sighed. She looked at the clock just as it reached ten AM. Okay. Maybe Joe would be back at two or something. She decided to eat breakfast and since it was her birthday, she made waffles. And pancakes. And baked a batch of cookies.
She got carried away again. By the time she finished eating the cookies while watching a movie (leaving some for Joe), it was already three PM. Okay. Joe still wasn't back.
She decided to take her mind off of it by scrolling through her social media platforms. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat... everyone was being so sweet and wishing her a happy birthday. She just wished one of them was Joe.
While scrolling through Instagram reels, she laid down on the couch and Meredith jumped onto her stomach, purring.
'Hello, baby,' She cooed, rubbing Meredith's chin. Meredith purred louder and pressed her paws down into Taylor's already really full stomach.
They stayed like that for a while. And by the time Taylor had gotten up to stretch, it was almost six. No Joe yet.
And then, six turned to nine.
Nine turned to eleven.
Joe still wasn't back from set.
Still, Taylor wasn't losing faith, not just yet.
But all hope disappeared once it was ten minutes to midnight. Taylor hadn't even seen Joe's face that day.
Taylor sighed heavily, feeling her heart sink. Well, she guessed something to drink wouldn't hurt.
They had some Michelob Ultra and a bunch of Soju.
She decided the first option was better if she wanted to get drunk.
The first shot tasted weird after not drinking for a while. The second shot was a bit better. And the third. Then, the fourth.
Before she knew it, she'd finished two bottles. The clock gave 1 AM. Her birthday had officially ended. Where the fuck was Joe?
She rolled her eyes and decided to go upstairs to call it a night.
Once upstairs, considering she didn't change out of her pyjamas, she climbed under the covers immediately. And then she cried.
Her whole body shook with tears.
She didn't know what to do anymore. How could Joe forget her birthday? Was it something she did? I mean, she hadn't forgotten his birthday, had she? Nor their anniversary. Nor Valentine's Day.
She couldn't think of a day that was special to them that she'd forgotten.
As if on cue, she heard the door open. She sat up and stared at the bedroom door.
A few minutes later the bedroom door opened and the lights switched on.
Joe walked in to see Taylor sitting on the bed, her legs under the covers with tear stains on her cheeks and looking at him with teary eyes.
'Why are you crying, love?' Joe asked gently, slowly walking over to the bed and reaching out to her.
Taylor pulled away. 'Guess why.' She said, irritated.
'What the hell's going on now?' Joe pushed some hair away from his face.
Taylor scoffed and stood up.
'Where are you going?' Joe gripped her wrist, but she managed to pull away.
'I'm going to stay in the guest room.' Taylor mumbled, her voice breaking a bit. She turned the doorknob and went to the room across the hall.
She can't believe this.
Once she settled in the bed, the door opened. Taylor scoffed, folding her arms to her chest.
'Tay, babe, please, tell me what's wrong.'
'You forgot my fucking birthday, Joe!' Taylor was crying now.
'Y-you—what?'
'You forgot my birthday! I can't believe you! Out of all people!'
'I-I'm so sorry, Tay,' Joe stammered.
'Sorry can't fix this now!' Taylor yelled, getting up and pushing him out of the guest room. She locked the door.
Crying, she dropped her body onto the bed and hugged a pillow. She fell asleep like that, leaving Joe outside the room, mentally scolding himself for not setting a reminder.
