(This is the second part of yesterday's chapter since I was too tired to finish it, therefore yesterday's seemed more of a preview than an actual chapter. Sorry! This chapter is longer again. Have fun!)
As soon as Pedro and Yam had finished their tasks, at 11:45, Nina and Simón entered and with them, they brought a three-layer turquoise cake. Its base colour was well complemented by the white ruffle accents around the edges; the colourful sprinkles, representing Jim's playful but cute attitude and, last but not least, a giant purple 18 placed on the top. You were able to tell from afar that a lot of thought and consideration had went into the cake's making.
The same was able to be said about the second cake Simón rolled in at the moment. It was mainly purple, sharing the sprinkles and the edging with the first one, it also had a turquoise 'J&R' on the top to further add to the similarities.
After both tray wagons were rolled over to the bar, Nina and Simón placed their gifts on the counter. Yam approached the two."Hello you two monster chefs, those look gorgeous! Are you sure were going to need two cakes though? Wouldn't that be a huge waste?" Yam was caught between loving the surprise and worrying about the leftovers. The pair greeted her back. Whilst Nina hugged her, Simón calmly answered: "Glad you like them, Yam! We figured one cake wouldn't quite be enough for our amount of people."
Before continuing, he was interrupted by Nina: "I calculated, if everyone eats 2 pieces, then two cakes would be a must. Especially because all of us have different tastes and-"
"Nina", Simón lightly grabbed her by the arm, before she further went off-track.
"Sorry, Simón. You can continue now."
"Anyway, as I was saying...", Simón continued for a little while, ending his little monologue with "The rest Jim can just take home for later!"Suddenly, the three heard a voice from the entrance.
They slowly turned around and noticed Nina's mum Ana in the doorway, doing her usual 'checking up on Nina' routine.
"Are the cakes ok? Are you all alright?", she asked them with her overbearing tone, which everyone was used to by now. After all, it was her who had just driven Nina and Simón to the location, so she thought it was necessary to at least make sure everything, and everyone, was in good hands.
"Everything is alright mum, nothing happened. Could you please leave us alone? We need time to organise", Nina responded, being slightly annoyed by her mum's overprotective behaviour.
"Only because you asked. Have fun and text me every once in a while!", Ana told her while she went towards the exit.
"Bye!", the three answered her, Nina especially being relieved, Simón and Yam just letting out a small laugh and Nina's mum.
"You two are the best, seriously", Yam broke the silence, pointing at them with finger guns.
"Hey, don't think the cake is just for you!", Simón playfully shouted back.
"I know, I know.Moving on, Nina, I see you're already in the party gown I gave you yesterday. Already prepared, aren't you?", Yam continued, switching the topic. Indeed, Nina was wearing a dress identical in shape to Yam's. Her figure was complemented by a beautiful, purple dress in knee-length with butterfly-like arms and a glitter skirt. (You can basically imagine this similar to the dresses from S.1 Ep. 65's Sobre ruedas, but with extra steps.)
To that, she paired her usual shoes and a glitter bracelet, since the rest was up to her and Luna had continuously insisted she'd wear it. "You look amazing! It's not often I see you without the school uniform." "Thanks Yam. That's mostly because even if I wear something else, the two look similar." Yam went over the chair where she had placed all of the boys' outfits previously, looked for the bag labelled 'Simón' and went back to the pair.
"Uhm, Simón? Could you please wear this? I made-"
At that moment, Yam was cut of by Pedro, who was walking in, wearing his new outfit and holding a lemonade in his hand.
"Look, we're all going to match and you will look just like this." Pedro showed off his look with dramatic poses and the group erupted into laughter.
"Hey Nina, I figured you'd might want a drink after you arrived", Pedro continued, handing Nina the freshly-made glass of lemonade. "Oh, by now you know me too well, thanks", she said while accepting the drink and taking a little sip from it. "And don't worry Yam, I know exactly what to do already. Get the cutlery, prepare and hide the cakes. Got it." "Love you and your determination", Yam said, relieved that everyone was actually listening to her, maybe a bit commanding, wishes.
"Sorry to interrupt girls, but I'm just going to settle down and get dressed if I'm not needed here anymore", Simón announced as he took Yam's bag off of her. "Of course", was Yam's answer and so he went towards the stage.
"Well, I'll go and wait for the others at the entrance again then."Yam left and Pedro went to get the sketch Yam had drawn him of what the bar should look like. After helping Nina find all of the supplies she needed, Pedro got a hold of everything and started decorating.
Simón the electrician
After a few minutes, Simón returned to Yam and tapped her on the shoulder, causing her to shreak.
"Is there anything I can do to further help prepare?", he asked her as she turned around to face him.
"Hmm, let me think. Maybe you could work with the lights? I had this terrific idea but I'm not the best in physics and don't know whether or not it's even possible to execute here", Yam asked him in return. "Well, Pedro definitely knows this place best, but I can see what I can do."
"Thanks a bunch! So, the lights also work per remote, right?"
"I think so? I heard Pedro say that once."
"Great. So, it was my plan to have the lights off at first and when Jim walks in the lights go on, but only facing the stage, maybe even dimmed...? Do you get what I mean?" Yam told Simón a bit embarrassed.
"Yea, I'll manage. I'm going to ask Pedro for that remote. As soon as I've got it, I'm going to get straight to your wish."
"Thanks!", Yam told him as he walked off to find Pedro once more.Someone lightly tapped on Yam's shoulder again, but to her surprise, it was actually Nico this time around, who had just come back from inside the locker rooms.
"Hey Yam." "Oh my god Nico you just scared the living out of me." "Whoops, sorry."
"Eh, it's alright. Anyway, where were you just now?", Yam confronted him. "Oh, I was just closing up the track, you know?" Of course, that was only a lie to distract Yam. In reality, he had just placed his items inside of his locker, so no one would find them beforehand and eventually ruin the surprise.
"...Sure. Well, since you are here now, would you mind putting this on?", Yam smiled at him enthusiastically, since she knew he didn't like 'playing dress-up'. Where was Pedro to convince him right now?
Nico noticed he had just made a mistake. He had told Yam earlier that he would be arriving later. Would she now be suspicious of him? 'Most likely not' Nico thought, 'she must be busy'.
As Yam basically shoved him his bag in his face without him noticing, he quickly agreed to her offer and Yam happily thanked him. Nico quickly rushed over to his best friend Simón, who had just then finished his job with the lights.
Nico greeted him and proceeded to question him about it. After Simón had explained, Nico asked him if he could take care of the remote, Nico thought it would majorly benefit him in his plan. He brought up the point that he'd be on the side and all. Simón eventually agreed without hesitation, not knowing of Nico's 'true intentions'.
Nico then locked himself in the locker rooms, nobody should be able to find him here. He found it kind of sad that he wouldn't be able to help Yam, but he figured she'd manage on her own and besides, he was playing the safe card.
Nico used this perfect opportunity to change into the outfit Yam had handed him, he figured this would at least be a little help to her. To his surprise, he ended up loving the fit and hoped that Jim would love it on him as well.
