Chapter 10: The final moments before the surprise

Some final touch-ups

Nearly two hours had passed, it was now three o'clock and a lot had already been completed.

Yam called for everyone to come together to a quick 'meeting' in order to check up on what had happened so far, and what they still needed to correct before it was eventually time.
But first, she persuaded Nina to take pictures of them in their stunning outfits with her camera, so she could print them later and keep the memories of that day.
After their little photo shoot, which they would continue later on anyway, the group sat down at the table and started their 'planning phase'.

"Ok, checking: Delfi, did you two manage to wrap your gifts and put them behind the stage with the rest so far?"
"Check!"
"Alright, good start... are the two cakes prepared to be rolled in?" "Yeah!", Luna yelled into the round. "Great. Is our miraculous photographer ready?"
"I am", Nina answered quietly.
"Are the tables arranged?"
"Check, even though it's obvious", Gastón stated.
"Are the instruments on stage and ready to sing?"
"Of course!", Simón enthusiastically said.
"Is everyone in their outfits?"
"Yes!", the table says.
"Pedro, has Jim texted you or is there anything unusual about her?"
"Nope. But Felicity texted lol", Pedro said, as he stood up to make 10 different shakes for later.

"Hey hey wait, where do you think you're going?", Yam questioned him. "I figured I wasn't needed any more after that question, so I wanted to use the time and prepare the shakes so there's no time management issues. I can always put them in the freezer, you know."
"Oh. Well, I guess I do have no questions left for you. You can go, Pedro, thanks for being two steps ahead of me", Yam chuckled as Pedro resumed his way to the bar, still at hearing distance in case they were any more questions for him. "Ok, moving on. Simón, are the lights all prepped? Were you able to find a way to dim them?"
"I actually did, I really didn't think it would work though..."

"Of course it would have worked. You're the great Simón, remember?", Luna reassured him, but also accidentally making him blush.
"If you say so Luna. Well, I've got the lights and the plan on me, chef!", Nico continued.
"Perfect, great job! Guys, is the decor ready?"
"Almost!", Jazmín answered.
"Is everyone aware of the procedure?" Everybody agreed.
"Ok everyone, let's finish this decor!", Yam gave them their sign to continue.
They all jumped up excitedly and decided to work together in order to transform their familiar Jam&Roller into a magical ball room for Jim's birthday.

Finally, a job well done

At 4 o'clock, only an hour later, the work had been completed. The room was mostly divided into three parts: the bar, the main area and the stage.

The bar had been covered in beautiful, rosé-gold decor, almost being suffocated by glitter garlands on top and on the front of the serving table.
On the serving table itself laid the previously mentioned LED chain set to the colour peach to further complement the rosé-gold.
Next up was the stage, the main place you were able to lay your eyes on when you walked around the bar, further into the room. So in her planning, Yam made sure to make it shine the brightest.
This was mostly achieved with golden theatre curtains, framing the edges of the stage.
Furthermore, the whole stage had been sprinkled with glitter, which wound inevitably be a hassle to clean up later on.
And most importantly, the main area was kept aesthetic and elegant in silver.
Garlands covered the ceiling, each table was re-designed and the large table the group would sit at stood out a lot with its silver cover.

One last time before the grand party, everyone got together on the stage and Yam told them one last time:

"Ok guys, I just wanted to tell you guys one last thing before we all present this masterpiece, that we have been planning for weeks; I am so proud that we managed to organise something this huge together, as a team. Also, don't worry, the real speech is yet to come.
First of all, thank you all for coming to our meetings over the last few weeks and of course, today. Also, big thanks for helping me organise this big party, I would have never managed without you lot. Also, thank you for letting me take over with my ideas haha.
So, Jim is a great friend to all of us; undoubtedly my best friend even. She loves us all from the bottom of her heart and is there for us every single day on repeat, and that's exactly why we have all gathered here today: to thank her for being in our lives.
So, let's make this the best 18th birthday party she could ever have!" Before they all agreed, Luna added: "Exactly, because one for all..." They all put their hands on top of each other.
"and all for one!" The hands flew into the air, everybody clapping, yelling and much more.

"So, plan is", Yam continued, "Nico, as soon as Pedro goes outside, these lights turn off, ok? Pedro, you know what you're supposed to do. In the meanwhile, we'll wait on the stage, quiet. Remember everyone, start singing as soon as the lights are on!", Yam reminded them.
After squeeling one last time due to the excitement, it happened.
Once Pedro had went outside in order to meet their special guest in front of the Roller, the lights turned off and silence filled the room. Of course, nobody was holding their breath since it wasn't that extreme, but it was definitely a huge contrast to the usual, cheery atmosphere of this building.
Everyone was just so excited to see the happy, surprised look on Jim's face once she got to see them all and what they had planned as a team.

During this waiting period, Nico had some time to think alongside the rest, but he definitely needed it the most right now.
Soon, he was going to officially ask his lover to be his girlfriend, he just hadn't quite thought of a 'plan of execution' yet.
Which item would he give her first, the teddy bear or the flowers? Would she even like the flowers? What if she's allergic to them?
A lot of questions crossed his mind, but after sorting his thoughts, Nico thought of the perfect plan to conquer his girl's heart...
