A declaration of friendship
After Ramiro had pulled his hands away from Jim's eyes, Yam started a truly moving speech:
"So Jim, it's finally time for my speech now. Be prepared."
That was Jazmín's signal to start her recording."First off, don't worry, I've still got another gift after this. But, in order to explain why I am doing this right now: You are the best friend I could ever wish for.
I still remember when eight years ago, in middle school, we met for the first time.
It was a clear summer day and you had tripped on a little stone. I had seen you and ran to help right away. And since then, a lot has changed; about us, about our surroundings, everything.
I mean, now we are at the Blake, we always go to the Jam&Roller together, have such great friends and our friendship is truly the strongest it could ever be.
You, Jim, have turned into this breathtakingly gorgeous, generous, kind and a lot more things, woman and I am so proud to have you by my side and to be able to call you my best friend.
In these past eight years we've known each other, you have already done so much for me and I do seriously do not know where to even start explaining or where I would be without you.
You always helped me up when I was down, cheered me on at important projects, hell, you even gave up your crush just for me.
I believe that demonstrates you perfectly: you put others above yourself and always care about other people's well-being.
I really don't know how well I usually show it, but you truly mean the world to me and you have made me the happiest person I could ever be; no offence Ramiro, but our friendship is just more important than boys. When I remember old bits and pieces of this friendship, I don't only notice the changes we've gone through, but only the great, and not-so-great, memories we've made together so far.
That one theatre class in 6th grade where we played as each other; the time we were after the same boy, the time I saved you from getting bullied. I remember them all. Gosh, sometimes, I still want to punch Ámbar in the stomach for that.
There is basically no place on earth we haven't had an amazing time at together. This isn't a love confession, but I just want you know that... even if I'm supposedly the 'stronger' one of us, I still love you from the bottom of my heart, and the least I could do to show my appreciation for you and for us, was it to plan this party for you, just to give you something you really wanted and in order to give you back some of the generosity and kindness you always show towards me.
To further express my gratitude, I wrote you this song.
Well, not quite, but I remixed it just for you. Enjoy it, amiga."Yam finished, leaving everyone speechless.
Seriously, she was met by many stares, not knowing how to respond. Of course, during her speech, some of them had reacted, like Ramiro feeling a bit attacked, but now?
Yam had basically spoken her heart out about her feelings towards her best friend and it was better than any love declaration on TV.After sometime, a wave of clapping started, Jim clapping the loudest among them all.
During the performance, she had cuddled up to Ramiro, who was next to her, in order to comfortably enjoy what her best friend had prepared for her.
Ramiro had also wrapped his muscular arm around his, significantly smaller, red-haired friend's body.
She was already in tears after what Yam had said about her.Of course, she knew that Yam and her had a deep connection, but the speech was truly unexpected and Jim questioned herself whether Yam knew if she felt exactly the same towards her.
Unlike her speechless friends, Jim completely let her emotions loose, letting tears fall from her face and sending kisses towards her brave friend.
Jim was truly the happiest person she could be right now.
"I love her", Jim mumbled into Ramiro's chest.
"Me too", Ramiro whispered back. "But you too", he added.
"Go Yam!!", somebody yelled as well, the rest just looked at Jim, not knowing where else to look.Jim wasn't able to continue her thoughts about Yam's fantastic performance so far any longer though, since after everyone went quiet, Yam started strumming the first few notes of 'A Rodar Mi Vida' and beautifully singing along (like in S1 Ep.55, so I'm skipping the explanation here).
It was their song: They had written it, they were constantly performing it together and it perfectly described the way the friendship went on as the years passed; Yam couldn't have chosen a better song to perform."Ciao, hasta mañana~", Yam finished the last words with her soft voice. She strummed the last string of her guitar, then carefully placed it on its stand and stood up.
She gestured a bow to her audience. Her crowd was going mental, clapping their hands together to a certain rhythm and as loud as they could.
Jim, still snuggled up to Ramiro, cheered on her friend with things such as "Woohoo Yam!!!!!" while Ramiro clapped alongside the others.
After Jim had calmed down a bit during Yam's performance, she grinned brightly at her best friend, whose face showed the biggest smile Jim had ever seen on her.Truth was, during the entirety of her performance, she had thought deeply of Jim.
Of their memories, their past; of them hugging, cuddling up to each other.
Thinking about those memories helped Yam mentally build the connection to the song and her best friend that she needed, in order to properly convey all of her emotions. Finally, Jim's true feelings
Jim also felt the special connection; the bond, the imaginary string between the two, keeping them together at all times.
Of course, she always loved it when Yam showed off her true potential, performing songs and conveying their meaning wonderfully with her angelic voice.
But this time, it was different, it was special.
Yam didn't just perform any song with any meaning; Yam had performed for her, Jim, the person whom she cared so deeply about and had done so all the time.
And the song that she had performed was their song, the song that deepened their bond, the song that connected them always, when the sun shone and when the clouds took over.
They may not always be in the same place at the same time, but they stayed together inside of their hearts, caring for each other.
And when Yam had started pouring her heart and soul into the performance, especially at the chorus, the same images Yam had envisioned also flashed before Jim's eyes.
Truly memorable moments, never worth forgetting.
Jim was proud of her best friend for being her second half, even if they had some differences. For example, while Jim was more of a sweet and rather vulnerable princess, Yam had always been the tall, feared knight protecting his princess.
Or when Jim's mind was filled solely with darkness, Yam held the candle to light it up again.
The two formed a whole, just like a proper coin can only exist with two different sides.
And so when Yam felt sad, Jim was the first to bring in some hot tea and a shoulder for her to cry onto.
Jim couldn't and didn't want to imagine a life without the spice to her sugar.Furthermore, she wasn't yet fully able to comprehend that their friendship had come to the part where they interpreted songs and planned parties for each other.
Jim wasn't used to parties from her infant-hood onward, so this was a more than cherishable experience. Yam's idea to perform in this moment strengthened the pair's bond in a special way and nobody in the room knew how important this song was for them.
At this point, Jim just wanted to hug her best friend tightly and never let go.
"Amiga, te quiero", she thought. While the others continued clapping, Jim and Yam unknowingly stared at each other in complete awe. After they broke out of their trances, Jim loosened Ramiro's grip around her waist.
Yam went back to the table after grabbing her gifts from behind the stage and sat down in original spot, next to Ramiro.
She took a deep breath.
"Did... you like it?", Yam asked carefully, not being able to read Jim's expression."I...", Jim said, making the room purposefully wait with anticipation.
