The car was filled with an awkward silence. Jake sat in the front seat while Jungwon and Niki sat in the two seats in the middle and the three girls all the way in the back. Jake cracked his window while clearing his throat.
The manager peeked over at the five in the back of the car, his eyes wandering to Kyungmi. Jungwon's leg bounced up and down, displaying just how nervous he was.
Taeri dropped her head on Kyungmi's shoulder. Taeri laughed when she saw was Kyungmi was doing on her phone. "What's this?"
Everyone's ears perk up, the silence in the car now being cut. "I'm doing some research," she muttered, continuing to eye her phone.
"You know you could just ask them," Taeri interjects. Kyungmi was searching for the other members of ENHYPEN.
Jake used the rear-view mirror to peek at Kyungmi and Taeri whispering to themselves. "You can ask us if you have questions, Kyungmi-ssi. You seem like the only one who doesn't know who we are, we can help if you need it." He spoke gently, not trying to come off as rude.
Kyungmi looked up at Jake, making eye contact through the mirror. "ENHYPEN, seven members. Order oldest to youngest; Lee Heeseung, Park Jongseong, aka Jay, Shim Jaeyun, aka Jake, Park Sunghoon, Kim Sunoo, Yang Jungwon, and Nishimura Riki, aka Niki. Jungwon-ah is the leader, although Heeseung-ssinim was up for the position, but turned it down," Kyungmi stated the few things she had learned so far.
"Sunghoon-ssi was a figure skater before joining HYBE labels. Jake, Jay, and Niki are all foreigners. You all participated in the 'survival' show, I-land, which resulted in the group being put together."
The three boys were now staring back at Kyungmi in shock. "You just now learned all this?" Niki asked with a shocked expression.
Kyungmi nodded. "The internet is a beautiful place," she inquired while smiling at him. Maeyeong laughed at Kyungmi while Taeri shook her head before gently smacking Kyungmi's thigh.
Jungwon smiled at Kyungmi's efforts. Kyungmi was far from a people person, actually, she was the complete opposite. She preferred to be left alone, doing things by herself, not worrying about others getting in her way. Kyungmi was naturally an anxious person, but around six years ago she developed severe anxiety and was even placed on medication because of it.
Taeri looked at Kyungmi with a gentle smile. She was proud of Kyungmi. Taeri knew all about Kyungmi's past struggles, and all she has been through and was pleased to see Kyungmi socializing with someone who wasn't herself or Maeyeong.
Kyungmi continued to attempt to find any useful information on ENHYPEN that may help prepare her. Taeri dropped her head on Kyungmi's shoulder, simply enjoying the peaceful car ride. Maeyeong kept to herself, texting away on her phone. Out of curiosity, Kyungmi peeked over. Her eyes widened before snatching Maeyoeng's phone out of her hands. "Yah, Kyungmi eonni."
Maeyoeng's outburst caused everyone to look at them. Taeri lifted her head off of Kyungmi, grabbing Maeyoeng's phone out of Kyungmi's hand. When Taeri saw the screen her face twisted in anger. "What the hell were you thinking?" Taeri yelled.
"What?!" Maeyeong yelled back.
Taeri and Kyungmi stared at her in disbelief. "You're unbelievable," Taeri mumbled. She turned her attention back to the boys. "I'm sorry to request this, but could you guys take me and Maeyeong back to the apartment?"
Kyungmi looked at Taeri with wide eyes. "Huh?"
"Why? Is everything okay?" Jake asked them.
"No, my little cousin here thought it was a good idea to message all of her friends and tell them that she was on her way to meet all of ENHYPEN because her friend knew one of the members," Taeri confessed. Maeyeong turned her head away in embarrassment.
The members stared in shock. "She what?" Their manager shouted. Kyungmi jumped lightly at the sudden outrage but was happy no one noticed. "This is exactly why I said taking these girls back to the building wasn't a good idea," the manager, Joonhyun, hissed toward Jungwon.
Jake was quick to cut in, "Woah, so because one of them made a mistake, out of excitement, they should all be punished?" Joonhyun narrowed his eyes at Jake, yet Jake didn't stand down.
"Yeah. You guys are idols, you need to protect your image!" Joonhyun countered. The girls shifted uncomfortably in their seats.
Jungwon sucked his teeth in annoyance. "That isn't fair. Just because we are idols means that we can't have friends? That we can't have fun or enjoy ourselves?" Jake and Niki nodded their heads, agreeing with Jungwon. Joonhyun was flabbergasted when Jungwon spoke up.
Kyungmi thought now would be a good time to cut in. "It's fine, really. We will fix the issue with her friends and we'll just go home. We would all hate to cause problems for you guys," she admitted.
Joonhyun was about to thank Kyungmi for doing the right thing when Jungwon interrupted him. "You too?" Jungwon turned in his chair to face Kyungmi. She looked at him with wide eyes. "You think that you shouldn't have come either?"
Kyungmi scrunched her face in confusion. "I never said that, Jungwon-ah. I simply said that I don't want to cause you problems. That's all. Sorry if that means that I won't be able to hang out with you today," Taeri placed her hand on Kyungmi's shoulder, whispering for her to calm down.
Jungwon seemed hurt by Kyungmi's words. Jake hummed, catching Kyungmi's attention. "That's understandable, Kyungmi-ssi, but, please allow us to determine what we feel will damage our image. Okay?" Jake questioned. Kyungmi hesitated before nodding her head in agreement. "Great! Now, we still have a few minutes before we get there so please, take care of Maeyeong's issue."
Taeri and Kyungmi nodded their heads, quickly turning their attention onto Maeyeong's phone, texting her friends, attempting to clear up the confusion. Jake winked at Jungwon and Niki before shifting so that he was facing forward.
After a few minutes of driving in silence, they finally arrived at the HYBE building. Joonhyun drove around to the back, allowing the six of them to get off. Joonhyun didn't say anything to them as he zoomed off, clearly annoyed. "Are we supposed to be here?" Taeri spoke up.
Niki looked back at her shaking his head. "Nope, not at all. That's why we're sneaking you guys in."
All they had to do was walk about ten steps until they hit the elevator, which was pretty easy since no one was in the basement. Now sneaking them off of the elevator was going to be the problem. Taeri turned Kyungmi around, digging through her bag. She pulls out a brand new pack of masks. The three girls tug the mask on. Jake sent Taeri a thumbs up and she quickly sent one back.
When the elevator door opened the six of them quickly got off allowing the few people waiting to get in. "That wasn't so bad," Taeri muttered to Kyungmi who nodded her head. Without many encounters, they safely made it to ENHYPEN's practice room. The boys allowed the girls to go in first.
The other four members stopped what they were doing, staring at the girls. Kyungmi and Taeri stood there awkwardly while Maeyeong was trying to not faint in the presence of her idols. "Jungwon-ah, what is this?" Heeseung asked.
Jungwon nudged Kyungmi and Taeri forward. "Hyeong, I want you to meet an old friend of mine. This is Kyungmi nuna and her friend Taeri nuna."
Taeri placed her hand on her chest before turning to look at Jungwon. "Kyungmi-ya, did you hear that? He called me nuna," Taeri gasped. Kyungmi chuckled at her friend over the top reaction. Jungwon smiled, embarrassed.
"Whose that?" Sunghoon asked, pointing at the frozen Maeyeong.
Taeri waved him off. "My little cousin. She's in trouble right now, so please don't pay her any mind." Kyungmi looked back at Maeyeong.
Sunghoon went to ask Taeri what she was talking about but Jake was quick to stop him. He tossed his arm around Kyungmi's shoulder. "These are our new friends."
