Kyungmi was sitting on the couch playing video games with Heeseung while Taeri played ttakji with Ni-ki. Every time one of them flipped the ttakji they screamed in excitement. Jungwon and Jake sat on the couch, playing games on their phones. Sunghoon, Jay, and Sunoo were in their own worlds, doing whatever.
Kyungmi groaned in frustration when she lost to Heeseung. Again. "Wow, Kyungmi-ah. You really suck at video games," Heeseung teased.
Kyungmi grabbed the small pillow beside her before whacking Heeseung in his stomach. Heeseung chuckled at Kyungmi, ruffling her hair.
"You're annoying," Kyungmi sulked, refusing to play another game with Heeseung.
Jay plopped down on the couch beside Heeseung. "What happened between you two?"
Heeseung tilted his head to look at Jay. "Nothing, she's just upset because I'm better than her at this game," Heeseung replied while shrugging his shoulders.
Kyungmi huffed and crossed her arms. "Heeseung-ssinim cheated."
"Kyungmi-ah, how many times have I told you, just can drop the -nim," Heeseung whined to her. "It feels like we aren't friends if you refer to me like that."
Kyungmi's eyes widened slightly. "Ah, I'm sorry."
Heeseung gently patted her back before hopping off the couch. "Mind if I play with you?" Jay asked her, scooting closer so he could grab the gaming remote. Kyungmi narrowed her eyes at Jay. "What?" he asked.
"Heeseung-ssi already told me that you're better at video games than him, I'm not falling for it," she said pointing an accusing finger at Jay.
Jay stifled a laugh, "Okay, okay. Maybe I'm good but maybe you could still beat me," he said. Kyungmi's ears peeked in interest.
Jay managed to convince Kyungmi to play the game with him, which resulted in her losing, miserably. Kyungmi sulked as she tossed her face into the couch cushion. "I hate this," she screamed into the cushion, completely frustrated.
Jay bit back a laugh, trying not to further embarrass Kyungmi. All eyes were on the pair. Jay stifled out a laugh. Kyungmi froze. She pulled her head out of the couch cushion to look at him. Her hair was a mess and her face was emotionless.
"Did you just laugh... at me?" Kyungmi pointed at herself. Jay was struggling to compose himself as he shook his head in disagreement. Kyungmi nodded her head in understanding. She grabbed the same pillow she hit Heeseung with and started smacking Jay with it. "How. Dare. You. Laugh. At. Me. When. You. Lied."
With each word, Kyungmi smacked Jay with the pillow. Jay was hysterically laughing as Kyungmi attempted to abuse him with the small throw pillow. She continued to release her wrath on him until she was satisfied. Jay continued to laugh uncontrollably.
Kyungmi stared at him with a blank expression as she waited for him to sober himself up. Jay wiped away the stray tear that escaped his eye as he was laughing. "I don't like you guys very much," Kyungmi mumbled before tying her hair up into a bun.
"I'll play with you, Kyungmi-ssi," Jake offered, nearly springing off of the couch, his arm in the air. Kyungmi glared at him, quickly making him simmer back down into his seat.
Jungwon simply stared at her. She was much different than she was when they were younger. The Kyungmi that Jungwon remembers was much more timid and shy. One that liked to keep to herself.
Now, Kyungmi was still someone who liked to keep to herself but she was far from shy. She spoke her mind, easily. It was something Jungwon was starting to adore about Kyungmi. Kyungmi turned to look at Jungwon, as she could feel his stare burning into her skin. "What, Jungwon-ah?"
Jungwon quickly shrugged his shoulders before avoiding her gaze. He excused himself before making his way toward his room. Kyungmi watched him disappear. Her gaze lingered around the wall he disappeared behind, eyeing it. Something about Jungwon seemed off.
Granted, he wasn't a child anymore. Yet, Kyungmi felt like he was a completely different person. Not in general, but towards her. Jungwon used to latch himself onto her as if she were going to leave him. Well, she did, but it wasn't her fault.
The only time she felt like she had Jungwon back was the night she go hurt. The way he was so attentive toward her. How he made sure to double-check on her before he left that night and even text her in the morning to see if started bleeding again or even started to swell. She missed it. Kyungmi had wished she never left him in the first place.
She always wonder how he was doing when she was in the States. Yet, she had no way to reach out to him. She couldn't come back home as there was no one here for her. Jay noticed the way Kyungmi was staring off. He waved his hand in front of her face. Kyungmi flinched back, her gaze darting to Jay who seemed worried. "You okay, Kyungmi-ah?"
Kyungmi quickly nodded her head. "Where's your bathroom?" She questioned.
Jay pointed down the hall opposite of the one Jungwon went down, "second door on the left." She thanked him before heading toward the bathroom. She slipped inside before locking the door behind her.
This was too much. Kyungmi's breathing began to grow irregular. She pressed the palm of her hand to the center of her chest, trying to calm her racing heart. "Dammit," she whispered herself. Kyungmi slid her back down the bathroom door, plopping down on the floor.
It's been a while since Kyungmi had an anxiety attack. She used her free hand to search her pockets realizing she left her headphones at home and her phone in the living room. Muttering a string of curse words, Kyungmi squeezed her eyes shut, heaving for air.
Someone knocked on the door. "Kyungmi-ah? You okay?" Taeri's voice rang from outside the door. Yet, Kyungmi couldn't hear her as her ears began to ring, blurring out the sound of the outside world. "Kyungmi?" Taeri called out to her again.
Everything started to go dark. Taeri was banging on the door at this point as Kyungmi fainted, her head hitting the cold tile of the bathroom floor.
