𝗜𝗧 𝗙𝗘𝗟𝗧 𝗪𝗘𝗜𝗥𝗗 sitting in the back of the van. Mackenzie was used to always driving her own vehicle to meet up with her friends, and often had JJ accompanying her in the passenger seat. Since she went full pouge, her car was no longer accessible.

When John B took a corner slightly too fast, Mackenzie's hand went out to grip JJ's bicep to hold her steady. She slowly let go and instead went to intertwine their fingers together.

"Alright," John B said pulling to a stop, "Hit it, boys!"

"We're going." Pope opened the van door.

"Recon mission," JJ said, going to get out of the van.

"Yo, uh, so I think I'm gonna do this one by myself tonight." John B said, preventing them all from getting out of the van.

"Really?" JJ questioned raising his brows. He was taken aback by the boy's comment, they had been partners in crime for longer than either of them could remember.

"What?" John B questioned, noticing JJ's change in attitude.

"Nothing brother." JJ shook his head dismissively. He didn't want to get into it, if he wanted to do this one alone, then he would.

"Look, I just don't want to spook Sarah with the peanut gallery." John B shrugged.

"I just don't understand why we're involving her at all," Kiara said frustratedly.

"Kie, we're not involving her, okay?" John B threw his head back in annoyance. Kie pursed her lips and raised her brows. "It's just uh, like a business meeting."

"That was really believable bro," JJ commented after John B had just promised that nothing was happening between him and Sarah Cameron.

"A hundred percent believable." Pope joined in sarcastically.

"It's obvious you've been compromised by the enemy," Mackenzie rolled her eyes.

"You don't really get to dictate who comes into the group and who doesn't." John B pointed out, giving the girl a look before announcing, "Anyways, I'm gonna take care of business."

"You're gonna take care of it, that business so well," JJ said as he began to trace patterns on Mackenzie's exposed upper thigh. His heart started to race at the harmless interaction.

"And well just sit here," Pope complained. "In this hot ass car, while it's lightening."

After a few minutes of sitting in silence, Pope decided to speak up. "Holding onto your grudges is like drinking poison and thinking Sarah will die," Pope said looking to Kie and Mackenzie who shared the same angered expression.

"Exactly." JJ nodded, "Time to let that shit go."

"I was friends with her for years, you guys don't even understand the shit she's done to me." Mackenzie snapped, turning her leg so it was no longer in JJ's grasp.

The group sat in silence for some time, clearly hitting a nerve of Mackenzies. It wasn't until adistant voice caused a wave of anxiety among the friends as someone frantically called out, getting their attention.

"Someone help!"

Mackenzie darted out of the van in an instant with the three others shortly behind her. She ran towards the lighthouse, coming to a halt when she discovered a body lying on the floor, a body that was recognizable as John B.

"Sarah, what happened?" Pope said as he and the others ran towards them.

"I don't know what to do. He needs help. Topper shoved him." Sarah cried, cupping John B's face.
