Jesiana's POV

I sighed as I knocked on the door ready to be yelled at.

The door swung open and I saw dad just how I imagined he would.

"Get in here." He said sternly.

I looked down at my feet as the nail polish sparkled from the front door light.

"Where were you."

"I said I was gonna go out with friends. Daddy I didn't mean too I forgot that I was supposed to be home by 9:30 I'm sorry." I said looking up into his anger filled eyes.

"Alright. Don't do it again. Now go upstairs and fresh up , were finna have company." He said.

"Ok." I said going up the steps getting in the shower.

• 20 minutes later

I slid on my knee high socks after I rubbed myself down with coconut scented lotion.

I then tied my wet curls up into a messy bun before I went downstairs.

"Dad , who's coming over?" I asked curious , hoping it was a family member.

"It's a dinner meeting for Michelle." He said making me roll my eyes.

"For what." I asked smartly.

"Her new job , her probably new manager has a son bout your age, you already know da rules."

"Yeah I know." I sighed.

"Alright , you wanna help me cook till' they get here?" He asked.

I nodded following him into the kitchen.

"Here , I want you to mix this batter." He said handing me a spoon.

I nodded slowly mixing the batter so that none would get out of the bowl.

"Dad.." I said braking the silence other than the food sizzling on the stove.

"Hmm?" He asked keeping his attention on the food.

"If mom were still alive would you two be together?" I asked making him tuck his lips.

"Yeah of course." He said furrowing his eyebrows.

"I miss mom." I said lowly.

"I miss her too , but not everything last forever." He said.

"Can you tell me how mom died?" I asked finally having the guts to ask him since he never told me how.

He sighed before he opened his mouth to speak but the sound of the doorbell stopped him.

"Can you go get that." He said I nodded before leaving the spoon in the batter walking over to the door unlocking the lock.

I opened up the door and widened my eyes kind of caught off guard.
