Days went by and Bonnie played the perfect little daughter. She cooked, cleaned, took care of her brother to ease the weight from her mother, gave him his much needed space after his ceremony (he was confided to his room to cleanse and find peace), and never mentioned that disastrous war that would never end. She even made short calls to Ian every other night and allowed her mother to introduce herself. She laughed quietly when alone and apologized to him, explaining her mother wouldn't understand the simplicity of their relationship. She nearly choked at last night's dinner when her mother gave her "the talk." She never heard "the talk" as a teenager but listened in on the older girls whisper about it. Sex was never mentioned in her mother's house, not in word, but when the act was hinted at it was always followed by the word "husband." Boys will be boys, Bonnie heard her mother say to Anthony on more than one occasion.

"Do you think that's weird?" Bonnie asked Daisy and James that night. "It works for us, but is it weird to you? To never have sex with one another but do that with other people while still being in a 'relationship.'"

When they opened their mouths to speak Bonnie cut in again. She paced the back porch where she would read as a child or simply stare at the stars and wish she knew the names of all of those lights that held life.

"I mean, believe me I've tried with him but he just... he doesn't want to. And I guess that's fine with me. He told me to sleep with whoever whenever, but never," she pointed a finger at her friends, "and I mean never form that emotional bond with them. 'Alright Bonnie?' 'Alright Ian.' He told me he's the type that just doesn't want to have sex."

Neither of her friends found a flaw in the agreement.

James expressed his distraught for a man who never wanted to have sex. "Sex keeps the world going dude! I've never met a guy that didn't want to have sex. Even Nick, and he's conservative! I do think you should keep the number of guys limited, Bon."

She tilted her head and raised her brows. "Limited?"

Daisy pounced like a meerkat, shouting, though she promised she wasn't, about her best friend being able to do whatever whenever without questioning. Except murder, I draw the line there! Unless... no, I draw the line there! she shouted.

Days and nights of smothering the wild child erupted the bright idea of finally cruising to The Shack.

"They have the third best tacos in town," Bonnie promised her friends.

Daisy mentioned the itty bitty detached garage the Garcías sold tacos out of.

"Fourth best," Bonnie corrected.

Elaine never liked Bonnie and Daisy hanging around there. "That Joe gives me the heebie jeebies." She shivered while writing the grocery list.

"Joel," Bonnie corrected.
