"hey siri. play cardigan by taylor swift." i said, as i walked into the building. i awaited for the long ass pause to finally subside.

"cardigan by taylor swift." siri said, in response. i clicked my noise canceling on my airpods and continued my walk.

waving at jamie and giving him a big smile, i turned the door handle.

i made my way into the break room as i laid down on the couch, sprawling my legs out, getting that one good stretch.

that hit the spot.

i rolled over onto my side as i realized i would have some time to myself.

i was too excited to sleep last night, so i was left with absolutely no energy this morning.

pulling an all nighter isn't beneficial when you have to be at work at six in the morning.

i curled up on the couch as i pressed my head onto the arm of the couch as i let the wave of sleep take over me.

.
.

i walked into the break room, two celsius in hand as i didn't put them in her hands last night.

there's only so much i can do at times like this, especially since i dead gave away the fact i'm fond of her.

i wiped my eyes, i closed the door behind me with my foot as i noticed the break room was empty..

or so i thought.

the time we parted last night. was the time i got my call to start a shift, so i've been dead tired running around for almost 12 hours straight.

so. tired.

i put the two celsius in the fridge and closed the door. hearing the bottles and cans clatter against each other.

i opened the freezer to grab some ice to put in my coffee before i leave the break room.

but soft snoring interrupted my train of thought as i whipped my head to look at the couch. "hello?" i called out.

great fucking idea to call out someone who's asleep.

i slowly approached the couch cautiously, as i realized it was niara.

my heart started beating out of its chest, as i could see her chest softly rising and falling as she slept. her hair, was sprawled around the couch, and strewn all over her face.

"wow.." i whispered to myself.

now i'll admit, this was creepy. very, creepy.

but for the first time i've seen her vulnerability, and her walls are down.

she's not carrying a burden on her shoulder, or letting anything hinder her real self. she's just niara jackson laying on the couch in the break room.

i smiled, as i went to the closet and grabbed a blanket to throw on her. unfolding it carefully, as i laid it on her.

i did my best not to wake her with any sudden movements as i she slept.

i looked around the break room before i crouched down besides her, softly moving curls from her face. i smiled, as i ran my thumb over her cheek softly. feeling her skin under my fingertip.

you're so beautiful niara..

but as always, it was cut short, as the sounds of footsteps neared the door. i jumped up as silently as possible and tried to prepare myself for an excuse.

"doctor baker would like to have everyone in a conference room as soon as possible. please gather everyone." jamie said through the door to someone.

"yes sir." grace said cheerfully. before i heard the footsteps depart from the door.
