Shades and shadows
Lights and Darks
Loves and Hates
Twisted hearts
Rinsed by life
Squeezed in part
Dripping rainbows
Abstract art
Here hangs my canvas
Beating fast
Humming to palms
That dare to ask
'Why the rush?'
Some fears demand
A speedy step
I'M OUT OF BREATH BUT
I'm breathing still
In bated breaths*
Just counting bubbles
I meant the s*
Weighed down by pressures
At deeper depths
Yet at the surface
My mouth will arch
My eyes will water
No tear will drop
My cheeks will beam
When the laughter starts
I do not cry
When times get hard
I'd rather embrace it
With open arms
Than bury my face in
The lost and found
For shadows thrive
On light to lurk
Shadows need light
For shadows to work
So my face LIGHTS UP!
When shadows come round
When life seems dull
And the earth is flat
And the moon is apparently wearing
A baseball cap
When birds are horses
And trees are bees
When light is shadow
EVERYTHING
Is not as it seems
Different shades
Different people
Different ways
To perceive the evil
But sometimes a tear
Will break my heart
For holding back
Fills up the well
Overflowing stories
You'd hate to tell
So every now
And every then
Find a worthy vessel
Mine is my pen
To whisper secrets
That have you spent
So shadows can die
In the light of friends
In the light of words
Or something else
Let the ghosts of the past
Have their rest
And let the glow in your heart
Light up the rest
