Even though Nancy motioned for her ex-boyfriend to leave the room, he didn't. "Jonathan, go! You're not welcome here anymore!" He rolled his eyes, scoffing. "Nancy, be realistic. You're only going to get drunk again at another party and dump Steve. And then you'll be back with me, because you know we're endgame." Nancy raised her eyebrows, both frustrated and annoyed. "Get. Out."
As Jonathan began to walk towards the door, something changed in his mind. He couldn't do anything else. Kiss her. He thought. If I kiss her, she'll know how much we both care about each other.

Jonathan was wrong.

The second he leaned in to kiss the girl, she punched him in the face. "GAHH, NANCY!" He shouted. The stubborn expression painted on Nancy's face said one thing very clearly:
I'm taken. And if you don't leave Steve and I alone, it'll be the last thing you regret.
"GET THE HELL OUT! AND DON'T EVER COME BACK!" She shouted at her ex-boyfriend.
Panic flickered throughout Jonathan's entire face and he ran out of the bedroom and down the stairs as fast as he could. He didn't stop to get El or Will or tell anyone else he was leaving. He just wanted to get away from the psychotic girl he had once called his own.

Robin, Steve, El, Mike, and Will had been in the Wheeler's living room when Jonathan went running out. Robin watched with big, intrigued eyes. Steve became antsy immediately and wanted to go check on Nancy, but Robin held him back. Mike's jaw dropped and Will stared with little emotion displayed on his face, but panicking inside. El's eyes flicked to the stairs, wanting to go talk with Nancy. She was about to stand up when Mike went sprinting up the stairs. She'd never seen him run before. It was a strange thing.
Will watched his crush run up the stairs with a hint of a smirk on his face. He wondered if that's how Mike looked running after him in the rain last summer before the mall "fire". Robin also noticed the way Mike ran and smiled. Finally, she thought, another awkward runner. I thought I was the only one.

Nancy was sitting in silence, buried in her anger when the door flew open with Mike standing in the doorway. "Did you just break up with Jonathan again? He's a mess!" The older sister rolled her eyes, flustered. "Again? We never got back together." Mike raised an eyebrow. "Oh, shit. He's been telling everyone different for the past two weeks." Nancy stood up, even angrier than before. "Who did he tell?" She asked, needing more information. "Uhhhh..." Mike looked around, a little blankly. He didn't want to tell his sister if she was only going to get more pissed. "Mike. Tell me who he told." Her brother remained silent. "MIKE!" He frowned, stepping back. "I--uhhh-- he told a lot of people. Steve, Robin, Will, El, me, Lucas, Max, Erica, some of the guys in your class at graduation, mom and dad-- and some random girl-- her name was Melissa, I think? He told her he never wanted her in the first place or something like that. I dunno. It was a lot." Fire blazed in the girl's bright blue eyes.

"If I ever see Jonathan again, I swear, I'm going to fucking--" Mike cut her off. "Nancy, you can't." Her brother's blatant statement caught her off guard. "I can. And I'm going to. He lied to me and then tried to kiss me after I repeatedly told him to get out. And that I was with someone else! I have every fucking right to!" The room became increasingly uncomfortable for Mike as he tried to utter what he was trying to get across. "Nancy, you can't! If Jonathan is scared away, he'll take W-- he'll take El with him!" Nancy raised an eyebrow with a lighter smile. "Were you about to say Will? I knew something was up with you two!" Mike shook his head, trying to gather his thoughts together, waving his hands around wildly like Steve often did. "No. No! That's not what I said! I said El! Jonathan's going to take El away from me if you keep scaring him away!" Nancy looked bewildered and stepped closer to her brother, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Mike, it's okay. It's okay to be-- confused. Take your time... just promise me you'll let El know. Okay? Not now, but please. Let her down gently. She's like a sister to me." Mike gave his sister a confused look as if the conversation they were having wasn't happening. "What? I'm not breaking up with El. No way. No way. Just because I have feelings for-- I shouldn't have to lie to them. If I break up with El, I'll be even more of an outcast. I know that's what I am. But I can't do that to El. I love her too much." Nancy gave her brother the world's saddest smile. "It's okay, Mike. It's better to be honest with yourself, and with El. And Will. I'm sure he doesn't have a clue you like him if--"

A soft knock came from the door. "Nance? Nance, can I come in?" It was Steve. Nancy sighed with relief. "Yeah. Yeah, come in." His eyes flickered between his girlfriend-but-not-really-girlfriend and her brother. "Oh, sorry. Am I... interrupting something?" Mike shook his head immediately. "No! I'm leaving now!" He rushed out of the door, almost as awkwardly as he'd run up the stairs. Steve chuckled as Nancy shook her head reluctantly. "He's never going, to be honest with himself." She said with a trace of sadness. Steve looked over at her. "About what?" Nancy laughed. "His crush." He nodded. "Will? He still hasn't done anything about it?" She nodded, rolling her eyes. "Yeah... but I get it. I was the same way for two years of my life!" Steve, a little confused, raised an eyebrow. "Two years?" She shrugged. "Jonathan. I let that shithead take up my time. My life. I want to fucking kill him now." His eyes lowered. "What happened, Nance? He came running down the stairs like a... wild hyena." She scrunched up her nose, utterly disgusted by her ex's actions. "He tried to fucking kiss me!" Steve clenched his fists. "What the hell is wrong with that guy?!" She shook her head. "I know! I literally told you that we hadn't broken up and he still tried to kiss me! So I punched him in the face." A flirtatious smile spread across the boy's lips. "I mean-- you are a good kisser." He said with a light whispy voice. Nancy rolled her eyes and playfully poked him in the ribs. "Shut up. You're an idiot, Steve Harrington." He pulled her close, looking meaningfully into her eyes. "And you're beautiful, Nancy Wheeler. Even more beautiful when you punch douchebags in the face and shoot monsters out of burning buildings." They smiled and shared a warm kiss. "I love you, Steve." A happy smile played on his lips. "You're my dream, Nance. You always will be."
