Chapter 5 - "Roadside Revelations"

As they both climb into Meredith's car, Charlotte notices there is an onboard GPS. She starts to program it to go to New York but then realizes she doesn't know exactly where in New York City she is going.

"I guess it shouldn't be that complicated. The mans name is on one of the tallest building in the city."

She types in Stark Tower in the GPS and, of course, the directions come right up.

"Figures" she says.

"Dr. Sloan, if you don't mind me asking. Do you know this man?"

"I think we are past the Dr. Sloan part. Right? Please call me Charlotte."

"Ok Charlotte," hearing her name come from those lips. Charlotte almost melts in the driver's seat. To avoid looking at him, she starts the car and takes off.

"And yeah, I sorta know him. Mere dated him when she was in college. I've only met him a handful of times. But I do know he throws the best parties in New York and is totally loaded,"

"Loaded?"

"Yeah, you know? How does Tony say that again?" Charlotte does her best Tony Stark impression.

"Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist,"

"I see. He thinks pretty highly of himself."

"You could say that. But he is also Iron Man."

"Iron Man?"

"Yup. He fly around in an iron suit and he saves people."

"And why does Dr. Grey think he can help me?"

"Well, Tony knows a few people. And some of those people have special abilities."

"Like fast healing?"

"That and other abilities. There is this one guy Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America. He was given some kind of serum sometime during World War II and it kinda made him a superhero. He can heal faster and his way stronger than any ordinary man. So I guess Mere figured since Tony works with Steve that maybe they figure out what you are?"

"What I am?"

"John, Meredith and I have never seen injuries heal that fast."

"I see."

"And who knows, maybe Tony or Steve knows who you are less than what you are."

"I suppose,"

At that, John goes silent. Charlotte does not blame him. She can't imagine how hard this is. Not remembering yourself or your friends and family. She is not sure she would have lasted this long. Charlotte decide to cut the silence by turning on the radio. She keeps driving down the I-90 for about 2 hours when she decides to stop at a small village called Kittitas for gas and snacks. She pulls into a gas station and grabs her purse. She notices that John is asleep and gently wakes him up.

"John, I decided we needed a quick stop to top up gas and get some road trip snacks. Would you like something?"

"I could eat. Also maybe a loo?" Did he just say loo? She almost says out loud.

"Oh Yes! Of course. There should be one inside the gas station."

They both get out of the car and she watches him walk to into the station. She fills up the gas tank and goes inside to grab snacks and pay. She grabs a few bags of Chips, some sour candy and a few chocolate bars. Once in the drink section, she grabs a few bottles of water. Once she was ready to pay, she noticed John stepping out of the loo.

"You have quite the hull there," he says grabbing a few items from your overloaded hands.

"Gotta have the essentials when travelling," she giggles.
