The leaves flowing in the wind, the noticeable temperature change. Fall was in the air and Josie was absolutely loving it. Fall was her favorite time of the year for many different reasons.

One, she and her best friend Hope had become friends around this time when they were in kindergarten. Two, one of her favorite holidays was Halloween. And Three, pumpkin spice lattes returned to Starbucks!

So in conclusion Josie was very happy when she walked out of school at the end of the day and made her way to her best friend's white Toyota Camry. Hope greeted her with a bright smile as soon as she saw the brunette get into the car.

"And here I was thinking you were gonna ditch me," she said with a pout. Josie just rolled her eyes and pushed her friend's face playfully causing the girl's pout to dissipate and turn into a bright smile.

"I could never ditch you, besides even if I wanted to I know you would find a way to track me down" the brunette smirked while Hope just nodded and shrugged before starting her car and pulling out of the school parking lot.

"You know what today is" the auburnette grinned and glanced over at Josie.

"I have had this day marked in my calendar since they took them out of the menu," the taller girl said as Hope pulled into the Starbucks drive-through.

"Hi I'm Jed, what can I get for you today?" the man said over the intercom.

"Hi, can I get two pumpkin spice lattes one with vanilla sweet cream, and the other with whole milk, make them both venti," Hope said already having memorized Josie's order.

"Alrighty your total will be 10.50 you can pull up at the window," he said and Hope thanked him before pulling up to the window, pulling out her card, and handing it to the man who accepted it with a smile.

"Stop paying for me it makes me feel bad," Josie said shaking her head.

"Josie we have been friends for 13 years, and we always have this argument. I want to pay for you" Hope said before taking her card back from Jed. A moment later they were handed their lattes and the auburnette drove off.

"Should I pull over so we can drink or should we go to our spot?"

"Our spot" Josie clapped.

When Hope and Josie arrived at the old mill, they both walked and started heading to a corner of the beaten down shack. The duo had been coming here since Josie discovered it in eighth grade. They mostly hosted parties here and hung out when they both didn't feel like being at home.

"We need to come here more, I feel like we haven't been here in forever," Hope said sitting down on the couch. "It's only been a month Hope" the brunette giggled "plus school has been taking up most of our time."

"Speaking of school! did you see what Landon did with his hair today? he straightened it! and it looks amazing" Hope sighed dreamily.

Josie rolled her eyes at her lovesick "don't tell me you're still in love with that jock" she shook her head and leaned her hand on her chin.

"How could one not! his face looks like it was made by gods! and his eyes..." she smiled before looking over at Josie "enough about my love life what about you? do you like anyone?"

Josie's eyes widened and she looked around "uh..."

"Oh come on I tell you about Landon tell me about who you like please" Hope held up her hands begged.

"Penelope Park" Josie blurted out.

"The cheerleader Penelope Park?"

The brunette slowly nodded and Hope gave her a teasing grin "tell me about her" the shorter girl said laying her head in Josie's lap, waiting for her to go on about her crush.

"Yeah okay... uh, it's been going on for a while now..." Josie said and Hope gasped "your crush on her has been going on for a while and you never told me??"

"Yeah, I guess I just didn't think about it... but it started around middle school when I learned I didn't only like boys" she looked down and blushed.

"Oh?" she smiled "tell me when you first knew you liked her," Hope asked, now very interested in the conversation.

"During 8th grade, it was in my math class I was just doing an assignment and when I looked up at her I don't know... my heart just started beating really fast and I knew."

"I think I shared that class with you two... I can't believe I didn't notice."

"Well I tried to be discreet about it and it worked" the brunette looked at her, giving the auburnette a small smile.

After that, the two of them fell into a comfortable silence as they both drank their lattes. Josie was in the middle of eating whipped cream off her finger when Hope suddenly sat up startling her a bit.

"I've got an idea," the shorter girl said standing up from the couch.

The brunette raised an eyebrow and looked up at Hope who had a determined look on her face "well that doesn't sound good."

"We should help each other get with our crushes!"

"I was right, that is a BAD idea" Josie stood up, setting down her drink "we can't do that Hope that's a terrible idea."

"It's not, It's perfect! we can help each other with romantic gestures for Landon and Penelope and win them over. We are like the best duo it will totally work! we'll make it to where we have until the end of fall to help each other and if it doesn't work we both move on."

"I don't know Hope..."

"Please," Hope said giving her puppy dog eyes. God Josie couldn't say no to that face, so with a groan, she agreed to the girl's request.

"Fine," she said and Hope's face immediately lit up as she pulled Josie into a tight hug before pulling back.

"Okay let's go!" the auburnette grabbed her hand and started leading her out of the old mill and to her Toyota. Josie tried keeping up with the girl's fast pace.

"Go where exactly?"

"To my house, we need to start planning!"
Josie was suddenly regretting agreeing to this.
