When Josie woke up in the morning and stepped outside with her coffee mug in hand it was quite cold out. She took a sip of her coffee before making her way back inside and towards the kitchen where she saw her sister taking a bagel out of the toaster oven.

"Goodmorning," the blonde said as she began to put cream cheese on the bagel.

"Morning" Josie said sitting down at the counter, leaning her head on her hand.

"When's your girlfriend getting here" Lizzie took a bite of her food and looked up at her sister waiting for an answer.

"My girlfriend?" Josie furrowed her eyebrows.

"Hope."

The brunette almost spits out her coffee. Did Lizzie just call Hope, the girl Josie has been friends with for thirteen years and who is her best friend, her girlfriend "w-what she's not my girlfriend."

"Oh god don't get your panties in a twist people refer to their friends as their girlfriends, didn't realize it would make you so flustered" Lizzie smirked.

The brunette stood up "I've got to go get dressed for school Hope's going to be here in an hour... so..." she pointed to the hallway before running back to her room quickly and closing the door.

"Ugh, gay people" Lizzie shook her head before walking down the hall and into the bathroom where she proceeded to check her appearance.

Josie was sitting on the steps of her porch when a white car pulled up and rolled down the windows When she looked up she saw Hope peering out of it.

"Get in," she said and Josie collected her bag and ran to the car, getting into the passenger's seat.

"So after all our talking last night I have decided on our first course of action," Hope said starting up the car and driving towards the school.

"And what will that be?" Josie questioned, settling her bag on the floorboard between her legs.

"You'll see" she smiled as she pulled into the school's parking lot and went to her normal spot. Both she and Josie took off their seatbelts and got out of the car.

"You're scaring me," the brunette said walking next to her best friend.

"Don't be scared, I'm your fairy god Hope and I'm here to help" the shorter girl said before handing Josie a cup of coffee.

"What's this for?" she looked at the cup and up at Hope, obviously confused.

"You are going to go take this to Penelope, who is standing at her locker right there"
Hope pointed and smiled like she just achieved something big.

"What?? no absolutely not" the brunette tried handing Hope back the coffee but the shorter girl wasn't having it.

"We are starting small, you go hand her the coffee, and have a small conversation with her and then you come back to me and tell me how it went and we go from there."

"Hope, please no."

"Too late," Hope said before pushing Josie forward into Penelope's walking space, the brunette almost collided with her but the raventte put her hands on the girl's shoulders and stopped her before she could.

"You okay?" Penelope said.

"Yeah, yeah sorry I was actually... just coming to find you" Josie gave her a fake smile.

"Oh?"

"I got you this coffee... and wanted to say hi?" Josie said before glancing behind Penelope, seeing Hope giving her a thumbs up and a smile.

"Oh, thanks" the ravenette took the cup "I should probably go now I have class soon, but thanks for the coffee Josie."

"Yeah of course," the brunette said before walking back to Hope.

"You did so well, I'm so proud of you."

"Thanks, also Landon is coming this way" Josie whispered the last part. Hope's eyes widened as she quickly turned around to see Landon making his way down the hall in his leather man jacket that had Kirby in bold letters on the back.

"Hey, hi... Landon..." Hope said awkwardly and gave him a wave. The boy barely glanced at her as he walked by and to his group of jock friends who were at the end of the hall.

Hope groaned before turning and burying her face in Josie's neck "that was so embarrassing" she said before wrapping her arms around the brunette's waist.

Josie's heart fluttered at the close contact "no it wasn't you did good don't worry" she wrapped her arms around Hope and rubbed the girl's back.

Walking into the dining room at dinner time Josie saw both of her parents already setting everything up. She was honestly surprised to see them both here, one of them was always working.

"Hey sweetie, help your sister set out plates and utensils," Caroline said.

Josie nodded before walking over to the cabinet and grabbing four plates and making her way over to the table and putting them down.

"Well if it isn't the girl of the hour," Lizzie said as she started putting forks and cups onto the table.

"What?"

"I overheard that interaction with Penelope on the halls" Lizzie smirked.

"Oh god can we not do this today" the brunette rolled her eyes before sitting down at her normal spot. Lizzie sat next to her and gave her a look that told Josie she most certainly would not let this go.

"Okay, I made meatloaf, green beans, and potato I hope you're hungry" Caroline set the food on the table.

"Looks good mom," the blonde said with a smile.

"Thank you, honey," the woman said before she started putting food on everyone's plates.

"Klaus Mikaelson sent an invitation for a Mikaelson family Halloween party they are hosting next month, do you girls want to go?" Caroline asked.

"Hope is most definitely going to force me to go, so yes, I want to go," Josie said eating some of her green beans before pouring herself some lemonade.

"I suppose I'll go, I don't have anything better to do, and it will be nice to get one of the ginormous gift bags they give to the guests every year."

"Is that the only reason you want to go?"

"I guess I also like Hope, but yes I'll go" Lizzie waved her sister off and took a sip of her drink.

"I don't like how that family flaunts their money" Alaric shook his head as he cut into his meatloaf.

"Dad, they don't flaunt their money, hosting a Halloween party for all their friends and family is not faulting," Josie said defending Hope and her family.

"It's flaunting, and I still don't understand why your friends with that girl, I don't approve of you two."

"Because she's my best friend and I love her."

"Oh, I'm sure you do" Lizzie shot her a teasing smile that earned her a kick in the shin from Josie.

The rest of dinner was spent in awkward silence. No one wanted to speak after what Alaric said about the Mikaelsons.
