Chapter 7 🍁

Josie should've said no to the laser tag, right now she was sitting in the back of Hope's Toyota as the girl engaged in a very boring conversation with her boyfriend.

The three were on their way to pick up Penelope, the girl had her own car but Hope figured this would be a good way to get them together.

Josie sighed and leaned her forehead against the window of the car as she felt it come to a stop.

"Go tell Ms. Raven Claw we are here," Hope said and the brunette got out of the car and knocked on the door.

A moment later the door opened revealing Penelope who was in a white tank top and jeans "Hey JoJo."

"You ready?" the brunette said balancing on the heels of her feet.

"Yep!" the girl said grabbing her bag and walking out of her house with the girl back to Hope's car.

Penelope got in followed by Josie, Hope looked at the two as they got in before turning back to the road.

Much of the ride was silent, well at least on Hope and Josie's part, Penelope and Landon pretty much talked the whole ride.

"And we're here" the auburnette pulled the car into a parking spot.

"Sweet" Landon said climbing out of the car followed by the girls.

When they got out of the car Penelope walked next to Josie "have you been to a laser tag place or is this your first time?"

The brunette looked at her "I'm a professional laser tagger" she smiled before looking up at the building that had a neon sign that said Laserstrike "but yeah I've been here before, me and Hope used to come here a lot in middle school."

"Oh, a professional laser tagger? I feel honored to be in your presence" Penelope chuckled.

"Oh you should it is an immense honor" she smiled.

Suddenly Hope walked between them quite rudely and pushed them away from each other "so what are we talking about?"

Penelope raised an eyebrow "laser tag" she said opening the door for the two girls who walked in.

Hope walked up to the counter and the guy behind the desk looked up from his computer "how many people."

"4."

The guy nodded before handing them bracelets that were their passes "okay just go through that door, one of our employees will give you your vests and laser guns."

The teens made their way into the room, the room was dark besides the blowing walls and barriers.

"I'll split you up into two teams, the red team and the yellow team, you'll have 30 minutes your bests will keep track of when you get shot and who you shoot whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins " the guy explained.

"I call JoJo," Penelope said standing next to the girl and smiling.

Hope rolled her eyes before walking over to stand next to her boyfriend who was playing with the laser gun the employee gave him.

"Babe look," Landon said and pointed the gun at Josie who was putting in her vest, the girl's vest immediately beeped, and started glowing yellow.

Josie jumped a bit at the noise and frowned at Landon, Penelope rubbed the girl's back.

Hope shot her boyfriend a glare "save it for the game" she said.

Landon pouted and put his gun down.

When the game started both teams decided to split up, Josie and Penelope decided to take shelter behind a neon Saturn sign that was big enough to hide the two of them.

"Where do you think they are..." Penelope looked at her.

"Knowing Hope they are on their way to us right now."

True to what she said a moment later Hope and Landon jumped out from behind a wall and started shooting at them.

"Come on!" Josie shouted and took Penelope's hand. The two girls ran away as Hope and Landon chased after them.

"Don't run!" Hope called out as she continued shooting, she managed to get one hit on Penelope which she was proud of.

"Okay new plan, we both need to split up..." Josie said breathing heavily from the running.

"Oh, hell no if we split up we're going to lose."

"If we split up and they see that they'll also split up! and you're a cheerleader you can run right?"

"Right" she nodded.

"Found you!" Hope said and Josie shot the girl's vest causing it to beep before both Penelope and Josie took off in different directions.

Hope looked to Landon "you go after Penelope I'll go after Josie" she said and he nodded.

Josie ducked behind a wall as she saw Hope fastly approaching her.

"Come out, come out wherever you are," Hope said looking around.

"No!"

"If you love me you'll come out from where you're hiding," Hope said with a smile.

Oh, she's evil.

Josie peaked her head out and the auburnette looked at her with a mischievous smile.

Josie glanced at a door that lead to another part of the arena, Hope looked over at it "oh don't even think about it" the shorter girl said.

Josie got up and bolted for the exit only to have Hope run up to her fastly and wrap her arms around the girl's waist causing them both to fall.

Hope ended up landing on top of Josie.

"Ow" the brunette complained when she felt her one laser gun poke her in the ribs "not fair" she groaned.

"Not my fault you're a sore loser" Hope smiled down at her.

When Josie looked up at her and opened her eyes she saw just how close they were. The brunette swallowed "how can I be a sore loser if I didn't lose."

"Yes you did," Hope said, the auburnette minty breath hitting Josie's face.

Josie glanced down at her best friend's lips for a moment before looking into her eyes "no I didn't."

"Yes you did," Hope said pulling the trigger on her gun, which Josie just now noticed was pointed at her vest.

When they heard the beeping sound they both just stared at each other, Josie honestly didn't even care that she lost.

"Game over, Red team wins," a voice said over the intercom.

"Uh- am I interrupting something?" they heard a voice say and looked over to see Penelope looking at them.

Realizing that the scene in front of her probably didn't look good Hope crawled off of the girl and stood up before helping Josie up.

"I'm hungry... let's go get pizza or something..." Hope cleared her throat and walked toward her boyfriend.
