Things between Hope and Josie had admittedly been a little awkward since their moment at the laser tag place. They of course spent time together every day but there was something that had changed between them and they both could tell. Neither of them had chosen to address it so they ignored it and went on with their daily routines.

When Josie made her way out of her house with her backpack on her shoulder she saw Hopes Toyota parked in the spot she had it parked in every morning. Hope rolled down the window and gave her a wave. The brunette gave the girl a small smile and made her way toward the car and got in "Hey" she said closing the door and putting on her seat belt.

"Hey" Hope smiled and handed her a coffee before pulling off and toward their school "Okay I have another plan to woo Penelope, open the glove box," she said. Josie raised an eyebrow but did as she was told, she opened the glovebox and saw a heart-shaped box of chocolates "What am I supposed to do with this?" She asked and looked to her best friend for answers.

"Today Is the day you ask Penelope Park on an official date" Hope smiled as she continued to look forward and drive. Josie's eyes widened as she looked from the chocolates and to her friend "What?? Am I even ready for that? I don't think I am."

"Josie you have been hinting that you like her for weeks It is definitely time to ask, you are ready trust me okay?" She said and the brunette just swallowed and leaned back in her seat. Somehow she highly doubted that.

When they walked into the class that they shared with Penelope, Hope shoved the brunette forward "Do it before the teacher comes in" she whispered and walked to their desk in the back. Josie looked from Hope to Penelope who was sitting in the front of the class. She gripped the box of chocolates in her hand and slowly made her way toward Penelope.

She had felt like she had been walking for an hour by the time she had finally made it to the ravenettes desk. Penelope looked up at her and smiled at her "Hey JoJo" she said kindly before tilting her head in confusion, probably wondering what she wanted. Josie awkwardly held out the box of chocolates "Uh Penelope would you..." she cleared her throat "go out with me."

She raised an eyebrow "I thought you had a crush on Hope?"

Josie's heart started beating fast and her face filled with a look of panic "What?? n-no why would you think that." Penelope, probably sensing her panic gave her a look of understanding. The girl took the chocolates "Sure, I'll go out with you" she gave the girl a wink. Josie wasn't sure why she winked but nodded and made her way to her assigned seat next to her best friend.

Hope looked at her expectantly "How did it go?" Josie looked at her and nodded "She said yes." The auburnette smiled and hugged her "I'm so happy for you Jo."

The brunette hugged her friend back "T-thanks..." she swallowed.

When lunch time came along Josie was about to make her way toward where Hope was sitting when she saw Penelope wave her over. Hope was looking at her waiting for her to come over. She sighed and made her way over to the ravenette and tried not to look at the frown that appeared on her best friend's face.

"I'm sorry about what I said earlier I shouldn't have said that."

Josie shook her head and poked at her pasta "It's fine."

"It's okay if you like her I won't tell, even though you're trying to use me as your shield" Penelope smirked at her. Josie looked at her with wide eyes "Penelope-" she started but was cut off by the girl "It's okay I'm honored."

"You are?" Josie gave her a confused look.

"Yeah, and if you really want to hide that you like her I won't be mad if you say we are together."

"You won't? saying that seems like a very messed up thing to do..."

"Let's just say I was in your situation once, so if you really need me as a cover up I'm here," she said.

"Thanks, Penelope... and hey, maybe we can be friends... also I kind of told Hope we are going on a date so do you want to hang out Friday night? we can do whatever you want" she said. Penelope nodded "Sounds good Saltzman" and with that, Josie smiled at her and walked over to Hope.

"What were you two talking about?" Hope said frown still present on her face.

"Making plans for our date," Josie said simply and sat down next to her best friend. Hope just silently nodded and they both ate in silence. But the silence was soon ruined by Landon who came over and wrapped her arm around his girlfriend.

Josie rolled her eyes as the man began talking about football practice and how he wanted Hope to come to watch his game.
