MHA Chapter 367 spoilers and whatnot. Don't read this book if you arent caught up.

It's already several weeks after the close of the great war. Hundreds to thousands of injuries and casualties as a result of the villains' wrath and even more displaced or otherwise affected. The tragedy doesn't compare to anything in the history of the city since its upbringing. Hundreds to thousands of heroes killed, injured or otherwise, and even more civilians. The people of all of Japan will never truly recover from this gruesome battle of evangelical discordence. Especially those who fought.

Students of U.A and multiple pro heroes were on the frontlines fighting like their lives depended on it-and they did. Edgeshot, Mirko, Best Jeanist, Stars and Stripes, Endeavor, Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, Suneater, and many more are heroes who put their lives on the line for the good of many. Whether they actually did much of anything wasn't reflected until the very end of the battle. Like a lightswitch flicking off the villains lost after the defeat of shigaraki and were detained in camps until prisons were restored.

The recovery process is long for many, and much longer for others.

Katsuki Bakugou's state was undetermined for far too long and it was worried that it may be too late to save him. His heartbeat was significantly low, 27 beats per minute when he was rushed to the hospital the moment Shigaraki was out of commission. It's amazing it was beating at all, let alone 27 bpm. Whether he would live or die wasn't certain. The damage to his heart and body was incredible and the repair of his heart was lackluster. Doctors almost couldn't save him with the low resources circulating and at such a short notice.

Everyone close to him was left in the dark as to how he was doing. Everyone was hopeful but the doctors simply weren't sure. There were too many risks. They had to remove edgeshot's binding, replace it, close the wound on his chest, remove his right arm at the elbow, and treat various wounds. He wasn't awake for a single minute of it. Not even long after his treatment. Just a corpse with a pulse. "Hi Izuku, how's the brat doing?" Katsuki's mom asked with a tinge of sadness lingering like she had been crying some time before. She and Masaru walked into the quiet hospital room, sitting across from the green haired boy. He didn't answer the first time. Too lost in his own mind and staring at Katsuki's body, hoping it will start moving. "Izuku?" Masaru whispers, hand intertwined with his spouse's. Izuku blinks and turns his head sporting a weak smile. "He's doing better. Doctor's say it's all up to him now." "Well that's good."

They sit in silence for the next few minutes. The only noise was the beeping of the EKG machine. Steady heart rate for the first time in a while. Izuku waited in that room whenever he could. Sometimes he would fall asleep in his chair and dream about Katsuki waking up, only to wake up himself and find that he's still in a vegetative state. He wondered if the blonde ever visited him when he was unconscious in the hospital. He doubted it. Katsuki cared about him greatly but would only stay alone like he was if they traded places. Possibly, anyway. Izuku felt like it was his fault he was like this. If he was there things would have been different and he knew that as a fact. So many people could've been saved if he was there to save them. It's his duty as a hero.

Several hours passed and he was forced to go home by a nurse. "What if he wakes up in the middle of the night?" he asks groggily, gathering his things. "Then you can come back tomorrow but we don't allow visitors this late, have a nice night." He walked out of the room and left the hospital. It was 7pm. The boy debated on calling a cab instead of driving but decided he needed to clear his head. He drove back to U.A's campus and b-lined it to the dorm building. Tomorrow he would do the same as he did today. Waiting.
