I woke up to the smell of meat cooking and slowly sat up, I looked over at Ryker who was sitting across from me turning the meat around. I looked up at the trees and realised we weren't in the village and it got me thinking.
Why are we not in the village..?
"Morning Princess" Ryker says.
"Morning" I said yawning.
He chuckles and holds out a piece of meat, which I reluctantly take and inspect it.
"It's rabbit and to answer the other question why we aren't in the village is because it got too dark to navigate" he explains.
"Oh okay that makes sense" I mumbled as I took a bite of the rabbit.
"So why is a girl like you out here alone?" Ryker asks.
"Well since I was a little girl I've always wanted to see a unicorn but I was never allowed to leave the castle so one night I left and here I am" I explained.
"But that means you'd have to go into the Forgotten Forest" he says.
"Yup I know but I don't know where that is so I was going to go to the village and ask" I said.
"You can't go into the Forgotten Forest" he says in a stern tone.
"Why?" I ask being confused.
"The Forgotten Forest is a dangerous place... have you not heard of the tales?" He replies.
"No I haven't" I said getting curious.
He sighs and comes to sit next to me, I look up at him with curiosity and lean in.
"The Forgotten Forest is filled with dangerous things and monsters that will kill you... no one comes out alive or if they do they come out scarred for life and they go crazy so only a few brave souls like myself have gone in and come out normal because I learnt how to handle the dangerous Forgotten Forest is" He says glancing at me.
"Wait so you've been to the Forgotten Forest?" I asked.
"Yeah and it's no place for a lady such as yourself" he answers.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked being offended.
"That place is dangerous and scary everything looks the same which means you wouldn't last 10 seconds in there" he explains.
"Yeah but it sounds like to me you know the place very well and you're strong enough to protect me" I said.
"I do but that does not mean I will be taking you there" he says sternly.
"But why~?" I whined.
"I've told you it's no place for a lady" he replies rolling his eye.
"But I have you so I'll be fine!" I said protesting.
"How can you trust me we just met?!" He says sounding shock.
I didn't respond and instead looked him in the eye.
Why do I trust..? Good question...
"I'm not sure but I feel safe when I'm with you" I said.
His face turn to shock and I watched as he stood up and put his sword on.
"Let's get going now" he says quietly.
"Okay" I mumbled.
I stood up and join his side as we walked together. It was so quiet between the both of us that you could hear the wind blow and the crickets play their harmony.
"I'm sorry for what I said earlier I was way out of line" I said breaking the silence.
I saw him glance down at me.
"There's no need to be sorry" he says.
"Oh..." I mumbled.
It was quiet again so I decided to hum my favourite melody and skip ahead.
"Oi don't go to far or you'll get lost!" Ryker shouted.
I giggled and continued my humming, until I stopped seeing the village up ahead and turned around to Ryker.
"I SEE THE VILLAGE!" I shouted.
He doesn't respond and continues to walk past me.
"Come on girl let's go" Ryker says.
"It's Amiera" I said following him.
