Chapter 3

Max and I get off the bus as it stops at the trailer park. We walk into our trailer and go into our rooms. Several hours pass and I smile to myself hearing over the radio that Lucas took the shot that won the championship. I hear the dog start barking outside and I sigh and turn off my radio. "Alright, alright, I hear you." I say as I get up off my bed.

I walk into the living room to see Susan passed out on the couch with beer cans on the side table. I listen to the sitcom playing on the TV and sigh hearing Billy's name. God, I don't know why Susan watches this all the time. I notice one of the cigarettes is still burning so I walk over to the end table. I take a drag from it and then put it out. I pick up the two empty beer cans and throw them in the garbage can. I grab some leftovers out of the fridge and go outside.

I walk out to where the dog is as he continues to bark. "I'm coming, I'm coming." I say as he hops up on the fence. "Here you go." I say as I give him some leftovers. "Good boy." I say to him as he eats. I look over as I hear Eddie drive up to his trailer with his music blaring. My eyes widen as I see Chrissy Cunningham with him. He opens the door for her and they both go into his trailer.

I'm broken out of my thoughts as the dog barks again. "Okay, alright, one more that's it though, right?" I say as I feed the dog. "Good boy." I say as I cover up the leftovers again. I walk back into my trailer and put the leftovers up. I walk over to the couch and sit down at the end of it so I don't disturb Susan.

I watch the crappy sitcom and after a few minutes the TV starts to mess up. "Come on." I say with a groan as I get up to fix the TV. I readjust the antennas and then bang on the TV. All of the lights start to flicker and I quickly turn around. It then stops and I hear screaming outside. I walk to the window and look out to see Eddie running to his van and Chrissy nowhere to be seen. He quickly gets in and drives away.

I decide to ignore it and I walk back to the TV and turn it off. I walk into my room and change. I sigh as I put on one of Steve's old shirts. I lay down and after about an hour of tossing and turning, I fall asleep.

I quickly sit up in my bed as I have yet another nightmare about Billy's death. I try to calm my breathing and after I do, I get up and walk into the kitchen. I grab a bottle of Tylenol from the cabinet above the sink. I run some water from the sink in my hand and I put the Tylenol in my mouth and then the water to wash it down.

I turn around as I hear sirens in the distance getting closer. I walk to the front door and open it to see several cop cars pull up to Eddie's trailer. I turn my head to the side as Susan and Max come outside. "Looks like that Munson boy's up to no good again." Susan says as she crosses her arms.

I walk down the steps off the small front porch of our trailer to try and see what's going on. I look around two cops to see inside Eddie's trailer. I gasp as I see Chrissy's body inside Eddie's trailer. A police officer grabs my shoulder and I spin around to look at him. "Hey, you can't be out here. Get back inside." He says. I turn around to look at Chrissy's body one more time. "Back inside." The officer says again. I run back to my trailer and grab Max's hand and drag her inside.

"What happened? What did you see?" She asks as we walk into my room. I shake my head and try to calm my breathing. "We need to get to one of the boys house. Lucas or Mike or Dustin, anybody, we need to go now." I say and Max gives me a worried look. She leaves my room to go and get changed while I change as well.

I slip on a pair of black jeans and grab another one of Steve's old shirts. I grab Billy's blue jean jacket and slide on my boots. I quickly leave my room and Max and I meet outside and hop on our bikes. "Lucas and I aren't on the best terms right now and Mike left for California this morning, so we should probably go to Dustin's." Max says and I nod as we quickly bike to Dustin's house.
