MATILDA! CHAPTER FOURTY FOUR:
THE ISLAND ROOM

Liz and the gang woke up at the Chateau, and were now reminiscing about the gong show the night before. Liz sat on the couch, rubbing her head in hopes it would get rid of the killer headache she had.

"That was epic" JJ said

"Did you guys are Kelces face?" John B asked

"Bomb drop!" JJ exclaimed, throwing a beer can into the trash can and jumping back onto the couch that Liz sat on, making the couch make a cracking noise.

"And... Another couch broken"

"Seriously JJ?" Liz asked

"Your sleeping there tonight" Pope said

"I always sleep there" JJ told him before the door opened and Sarah Cameron walked in

"Hey Princess" JJ said sarcastically and Liz sighed

"What's up?" Kie groaned

"Shouldn't you be on Figure Eight with your little group of Polo players?" John B asked and Sarah looked down at him "or did you break up with Topper"

"John B" Liz scolded the boys words from her seat

"We're just friends" Sarah told him

"He's just a friend. You have a lot of friends Sarah Cameron"

"Yeah, and it seems you've got some of your own too" Sarah shot back at him and by the girls hand movements Liz could tell she was a bit anxious.

"All right, what are you doing here?" John B stood up

"I'm here for Pope" she stated and everyone looked at her in question as she looked at Pope "I think I found the island room" Sarah said

The gang all sat in the back of the Twinkie, Liz on the ground in front of Pope. "Hey guys listen to this. The diary says the cross holds the most holy relic in all of Christendom. The garment of the saviour."

"So wait, he's dating there's a holy garment inside the cross?"

"Yeah. It says the garment is capable of healing the sick from any malady" Pope explained

"Mmm, yeah, if only I may touch his garment, I shall be made well" JJ quoted, making everyone look at him in confusion "what? I went to Sunday school"

"Sure"

"Okay well, that's why Limbrey wants the cross so badly. She thinks it can heal her" Liz said

"What else does it say?" Kie asked

"Many feel that we have sinned to steal such a sacred thing, and god will strike his vengeance on us"

"Thing is... god did have his vengeance"

"He sent a hurricane to sink the ship. Only Denmark survived."

They entered the Cameron house, and followed Sarah upstairs.

"This place still freaks me out"

"Yeah, Same" JJ agreed as Sarah unlocked the door, and they walked in behind Sarah.

"Pope, look" Sarah said as They began to look around the room. The walls were filled with a painting of a island.

"Whoa, you've got to be kidding me" Pope exclaimed

"Yeah. I know right? It's the island room"

"Incredible" Liz muttered

"It's been here this whole time"
