ELEANOR MEYER, a 15 year old girl, who was known to hardly talk when it came to being around her peers. She wasn't sure why her mother decided to move during the Summer, but she did, and here she was, in Denver, Colorado. Her mother's choice was due to the fact that she needed more help and support from her sister, Natalie, who owned a café in town."I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to work a few more hours," Eleanor smiled up at her aunt, "Great! I'd love for you to save up during the Summer." Natalie grinned as she tied her apron onto herself.
1 MONTH LATER...
It was now September, time for a new school year, "I should get going now, I'll see you at 8," Eleanor's mother smiled as she kissed her daughter on the cheek. "Bye!" Eleanor smiled before watching her mother walk out the door for work. Eleanor looked around the cozy home, sighing softly to herself.
She was already ready and prepared for this new school year and a new school and in a new town with no friends. She'd spent her whole Summer working at the café, she'd occasionally see people her age with their friends and laughing in a booth, she would somewhat feel jealous, knowing she didn't have any friends.
Once Eleanor looked at the time, she'd realized it was time to leave, her house was 15 minutes away from the school, a quick walk for her. She grabbed her items and backpack before walking out of the home and quickly locking it before starting her walk. She looked down at her shoes, she wore a Band-Tee, Denim Bellbottoms, and some old, dirtied Converse.
If she was being honest, she was actually super nervous. Eleanor held her Walkman close to her before putting the headphones over her head and blasted, Keep Yourself Alive by Queen.
She hummed the tune as she got a little closer to the school. Eleanor knew she'd receive stares, glares even, and many gossipers. Maybe too much. Eleanor was 2 minutes away, mentally preparing herself, trying to stop herself from pinching herself and squeezing her hands. Her breath hitched as she saw some students in a group, laughing and talking as they walked to the school.
God, this is so fucking scary. She thought to herself, playing with her Walkman cord, looking down at her body as she continued her walk.

"I want to introduce you all to our new student, Eleanor, who has moved here from Oregon!" Ms. Snippet cheered with a toothy smile, looking over at the light, brown haired girl, "Stand up," she encouraged with a smile. Eleanor gave an uncertain look before standing up, slowly.
"Introduce yourself!" She smiled wider, "I'm... Eleanor." Eleanor mumbled, looking down at her desk, feeling stares all surrounding her. "Well... we shall start our first lesson of the year!" Ms. Snippet clapped her hands together before picking up a piece of chalk and writing quickly.
Eleanor felt her chest tighten of the thought of introducing herself in every single class today.
_________
Eleanor looked around, scurrying through the halls and trying to squeeze through to get to her locker. She watched as many students started walking to their classes, she shoved a few kids on accident. "Hey! Watch it." A kid mumbled, picking up some of his books. "I am so sorry!" Eleanor was frightened as she picked up a few books, looking up to the long haired boy, handing him his textbooks.
"It's alright," he shrugged, analyzing Eleanor's face, "Oh," she nodded slowly, standing up and turning to her locker, putting in the code and opening it to grab her Math textbook that was placed there on orientation day. Once she grabbed all of her items, she shut her locker, locking it and turning to see the boy from earlier.
"I know you from somewhere," he analyzed Eleanor's face once more, she gasped at his sudden appearance. "Uh, I barely moved her 2 months ago," Eleanor said, starting to walk to her class. He hummed in response, following her. "You have Math?" He asked, "Looks like it, yes." Eleanor mumbled as she looked through her items to make sure she had everything.
"Oh, same." He said as they turned a corner and made their way to the classroom. "I'll see you around," Eleanor mumbled as she walked in, walking to a seat that was close to the window. She looked out to see the fall leaves scattered all over the front yard of the school.
_________
It was finally the end of the day, Eleanor grabbed her last book and placed it into her locker, shutting it, harshly. Once she grabbed her items, she made her way to the exit, walking out the two doors and down the stairs.
"Hey! Wait up, you dropped something!" Someone yelled from behind her, she furrowed her eyebrows before slowly turning around to see a girl with two braids. "You dropped your Walkman." She said, sounding out of breath. "Oh! Thank you," Eleanor grabs the Walkman, smiling over at the younger girl.
"What grade are you in?" Eleanor asked the shorter girl, "Oh, I'm in Middle School, I'm across the whole building as you." She clarified, "Oh." Eleanor nodded slowly. "I'm Gwen," She smiled, "Eleanor," She nodded in response. "I love your shoes," Gwen complimented, staring down at Eleanor's Converse that were covered in drawings and quotes.
"Oh, thank you." Eleanor smiled to herself at the compliment. "I should get going," Gwen pointed in the air, "Oh, same. See you around, Gwen." Eleanor smiled before waving as she walked off.
