Before she was able to answer, a knock bounced on the wooden door and Elvis stood up in frustration as he launched at the door.
His hand was tightly fixated on the door's handle before he angrily yanked it open but Isadora noticed how his fury changed into that of deception. She heard him talk, "Then do the needful, Cole."
What was he talking about?Isadora wondered as she still sat down and stare at Elvis just in the middle of the entrance sticking his head out. He breathed slowly and continued, "How dare you defend her? I have warned you several of times that anyone with such thing could do the unthinkable. To avoid such, there are lay down rules to heed too."
Isadora wondered, what could he be talking about? Who could do the unthinkable?! It was funny though, how would women do the unthinkable? What was the unthinkable and why was it? Another voice of his made her lunge up from her seat, "Kill her then, and do not tarry over small issues." Elvis said as he held the handle to slam the door but Isadora's hand were already on his, stopping him from proceeding.
He looked down at her with another blown up astonishment, "What is it, woman?"
She did nothing to reply but used that opportunity to widen the entrance. But the scene that met her was what she never could think of.
She saw a man who looked like he was two years younger than Elvis. Behind him was a girl sticking her head from the man's legs. She could see the girl shake in fear when she looked at her.
The little girl seemed to be around the age range of six to eight. Despite the fact that she hid her face, Isadora could see that she had been crying for a very long time. Her robe was chafed and soaked with blood that looked rather too outrageous for such a young girl. Her hair was dark as the clouds at dusk and at the same time, they fell down to her waist. She was gorgeously frail and beautiful.
When she was done with staring she glared at Elvis not taking another glance with the man standing at the front of the kid. "Who are they?"
Her voice was replenished with authority as she looked at him in expectancy but when he didn't reply, she sipped down her pride, "Please, who is the little girl?" She questioned as she removed her gaze from him to look at the girl who had stopped hiding and was staring back at her with plead in her eyes.
Isadora's eyes widened in shock as she saw the full picture of the girl. She wasn't on any slippers, and considering the cold weather she would likely catch a cold as a result. From the girl's forehead to the skin beside her left eye, there was a deep scar which looked like it was fresh and new.
She stared again at Elvis with full exasperation red-painted in her eyes, "Were you talking about killing this girl? Is...is that how you treat slaves?!" She questioned, her head swaying to and fro involuntarily.
"And you have been eavesdropping on our conversation? Young woman, do not shove your nose into any matter that is off your concern, okay?" He questioned her in the same bitterness that was in his voice the other time.
But Isadora wasn't pleased with it, "If then I am right, you would have to pass over my dead body if you want to harm this girl."
"Then it's easy." He stated and before Isadora could understand what he meant by that, he held her hands and dragged her inside his room while slamming the door but he stopped as he heard Isadora groaned in pain. "Are... are you okay?"
At that moment, Isadora's eyes stared dagger at him as she hauled her hand roughly from his hold, "It is you who need to be questioned." She said again loosing her left leg that was keeping the door from shutting.
Seeing this Elvis eyes dilated in response. Who was this young lady? Why was she behaving this way? Why did she have to do that?
As she removed her leg from the door, the door opened. Though her leg was incredibly causing her pain but it was her least concern. She knew that was the only method to use to save the girl because if she hadn't stopped the door from shutting, the golden-haired foolish man might lock the door inorder to stop her from opening it and she wasn't as tall as required to open such door.
She slowly walked lamely to the two people staring at her with wide eyes, "Why? Why is she being punished?"
As if the man beside the girl needed permission before he could answer her, he looked at Elvis with a questioning look, which made Isadora twist her neck to look at Elvis too, "Eh...he also needs your permission to answer me? I can't believe this." She shook her head.
When she was about to talk again, Elvis cut her short, "Isadora, it's none of your business."
"Really?" She was now facing directly at him, "First of all, how did you know my name?"
He remained still, unfazed.
"And secondly, I see... you have no respect for anyone right? How dare you call a princess by name?" That wasn't what she even meant to say, it just came out from her mouth due to her non-stable resentment. She could feel blood oozing out of her leg, but like she stated earlier, it was the least of her concern. "Elvis. I am not the woman you think you can control. I am not! I am the princess of Maxwell Kingdom and I'm the mistress to your Lord. So respect yourself."
Not taking a glance at him anymore, she angrily looked at the man she presumed to be Cole? "Tell me now!"
The man froze as he heard her masculine voice. Isadora forced herself to hold back her cough due to that but she swallowed her saliva instead, fret popping out of her skin. The man blinked a few times before answering her, "She...she is a witch."
