Tristan

My Dad only lives 20 minutes away from Faber. I've lived here all my life and as soon as my Dad heard about Faber, it's always been the school I was meant to be at ever since I was 10. It was close by campus so my Dad could watch all of my games and so could my family.

It's Thanksgiving break and my Dad told me about how my Mom and his family are all coming to visit. My Mom's family and my Dad stayed friends after she died. My Dad loved her as much as her family did so they fell onto each other for support. And they were even more supportive when my Dad moved on with Katherine.

I'm not so happy about it because I feel like the more memories we have with Katherine, the more we are forgetting Mom. But I just stay out of it and I'm polite, she's nice but I still feel like it's too soon for me.

I decided to stay around my place till Thanksgiving because I didn't want to see my Dad and Kathy together till the actual holiday. It's dreadful staying there.

I'm about to head out until I hear a knock at my door. One of my close friends Evelyn to my surprise is at the door.

"Surprise fucker! I came home for Thanksgiving and wondered if you were still hanging around your place. I guess I was right!" Evelyn says and opens her arms and gives me a hug.

Evelyn and I have been friends since middle school. We used to date for awhile till she realized she doesn't play for my team. She likes pussy probably more than I do.

"Hey Eve, it's good to see you but I'm about to head to my Dad's so can we talk later?" I ask. "Um why don't I just come with you, my parents are traveling for Thanksgiving so I am going to be home alone. Your Dad loves me and I can meet that new girlfriend of hers." She insists.

"Actually that's not a bad idea. I've been dreading this whole holiday so it'll be good to have some company, but please promise you won't spit cranberry sauce on me this year? I can't deal with another shirt being stained." I say.

"Fine as long as you promise not to pout the entire time because of your Dad's new girlfriend. I hear how you talk about her over the phone and she seems nice. You however are very chipper when it comes to her." Eve says.

"Look I think it's... weird for me. They seem to be getting pretty serious." I say.

"Well stop being a sourpuss for one night and enjoy being with your family Tris." She says.

I pull into the house and it's 6:00 o'clock. I'm thirty minutes late but hey I'm not late, everyone is just 'early'. Evelyn and I walk up to the giant front doors and she's the one to ring the doorbell. Katherine is the one to open it and I fake a smile.

"Hey Kathy it's so nice to see you!" I say in a enthusiastic tone.

"Oh Tristan it's always a pleasure to see you again. And you brought a guest, we haven't met I'm Katherine but you can call me Kathy." She smiles and is in a polka dot apron. She's kinda tall but shorter than me and has strawberry blonde hair.

Evelyn gives Kathy a hug and we walk in, the place is swarmed with people running around, giving out drinks to the family and making sure this party isn't a complete disaster.

Looks like there's more than just family here and it's friends too. We walk into the living room where my Dad is talking to the guests. My Dad and Kathy look annoyingly happy together and I try not to roll my eyes.

Someone from the doors to the kitchen announces that the food is ready and everyone can now take their seats. The sun hasn't gone down yet and so everyone is seated outside in the backyard.

This looks like an event, it's usually smaller then this and not as many people but I don't exactly care. I just want to be done with this dinner and leave.
