Earlier on Friday..

Harper

I got way to many calls that I can count yesterday from my Dad and his family. I also was sent flowers from Landon which was a very sweet gesture but no call from my Mom.

It had me worried so I sent her a few messages yesterday but no answer..

My door creeks open and I see Alex walk in and sit down next to me in bed.

"Sorry I'm late I had some errands I had to run. Anywaysss.. I know all of us already gave you gifts yesterday but I wanted to give you this." Alex hands me a small light blue box and I can tell she's holding back from spoiling the surprise.

I open the box and I see it's a gold necklace with a little drum charm and next to it is a guitar charm. My heart absolutely dies because this is one of the most awesome gifts I've ever been given.

To explain, Alex and I when we were little had Dad's that were very.. this is going to sound corny but rock and roll. We never knew each other as kids but we did explain one time how when her and her Dad listened to rock, or whatever kind of music.. she would 'play' air guitar with her Dad.

But me and my Dad when we would listen to music I would 'play' the drums. One day Alex and I were sharing some of the music we listened to when we were kids, very similar and had the same taste by the way.

I started acting like I was playing the drums and she did guitar. We explained the story about when we were kids and knew we were meant to be best friends because she's my guitar and I'm her drums.

"Oh my god Alex!! This is the coolest gift anyone has ever given me I can't believe you remembered!" I shout reaching over the bed to tackle her with hugs.

"Of course I remembered Harp, you are my drums. Oh! I also got a matching one for me, but in silver." She grins and I grin back knowing exactly what she was planning.

I am more of a gold person when it comes to jewelry and she's silver when it comes to jewelry. She's my silver to my gold.

"Alex this is amazing thank you I have no words." I hug her again and I admire how pretty the necklaces are.

"I wanted to do this in a more private setting because I feel like it's more of an inside joke and didn't want to have to explain to Max and Audrey. Happy Birthday Harp." She smiles and I hug her again. We get up to get ready.

Alex is making a huge thing out of showing up to the party at 9. I have a feeling mystery boy is going to be there..

"We leave in 15 minutes Harp!! I'm not going to be late again because of you!!" Alex hollers from her room.

"Okay okay! By the way where is Max and Audrey? I thought we'd meet up before we left?" I ask and Alex walks into the living room to stop the shouting we are doing since she was all the way across our dorm.

"They are with a few friends, they will meet us later tonight." Alex says walking back into her room.

I hear my phone buzz and I turn my phone over to me and see it's my Mom.

"Thank god I was so worried about you! Are you okay??" I pick up asking my Mom.

"Yeah I'm—- fine." She stammers her words and I know immediately what's wrong.

She's drunk.

"Mom what's going on are you alright?" I question and she doesn't answer for a minute.

"I'm fine stop worrying about me.. you always tttt-treat me like a child!" She yells over the phone.
