She was not fine. After a week of working and partying, Olive was exhausted. Her head hurt from the cases she was working, and the amount of whiskey and tequila she drank to keep Ethan's touch at bay.
But she was at a point to were she couldn't run from the hurt any longer.
They say that there are 5 stages of grief. Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance. Olive Sage knew that she had not completely gone through the stages completely.
Her first week was Denial, she spent her nights staring at the moon wondering if it had really happened; that he had really left. But she never truly transitioned into anger, it just had happened. The slightly marks in her walls from the bottles she tossed at them.
But Bargaining never seemed to happen or at least she thought. But the twenty-seven year old also seemed to not realize that wishing he was their, was indeed bargaining with what could have been.
Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor
She looked down at her phone. Tears rolled down her face as she swiped through her photo album. All the sneaky pictures she had taken of Ethan during their trip to Miami and the time afterwards.
Reaching for the phone cause I can't fight it anymore
Olive clicked off of her photos and into her digital phone book. She stopped at Ethan's contact. She stared at it for a long time.
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
A tear rolls down her cheek as she turns off her phone and lays her back down on the floor.
For me it happens all the time
She looks up slightly towards the wall infront of her, her gold tirm clock displaying the time
Its a quarter after one
I'm all alone and I need you now
Olive countered herself and turned her phone back on. Before she could realize what she was doing, she was dialing Ethan's number one more time.
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
She grew hopeful with the phone actually began to ring, her heart beating out of her chest. But it dropped to the pit of her stomach when she heard Ethan's voice mail.
And I don't know how I can do without
I just need you now
The rain poured hard against the trees outside. The tall glass windows of the room should the complete view of the storm outside
Another shot of whiskey, can't stop looking at the door
Ethan sat opposite of his desk, his eyes trained on the door. He downed another shot of whiskey as he thought back to Miami. The way Olive looked in that purple dress, the taste of her lips, and her soft skin pressed against his.
Wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before
He wished to be back home in Boston. He wanted to stand in his kitchen and watch Olive pet and play with Jenner as he poured them a drink. He wanted to feel the power roll off of Olive as she lectured him and see how she melts at his touch.
And I wonder if I every cross your mind
He leaned back and thought more about Olive. He wondered what she was doing right then, if she was sleeping peacefully or staring at ceiling like she always did when she was upset.
For me it happens all the time
He didn't have to wonder much longer when he heard his phone begin to ring. There was only one person who could be calling him at 3am.
It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk and I need you now
Ethan sighed, he almost got up to answer it. Instead he sit back and met it ring. He knew that he wouldn't know what to say to her. He knew that he couldn't face her, even if they were a thousand miles apart.
I said I wouldn't call, but I lost all control and I need you now.
As the phone stopped ringing, he could feel himself grow angry. He was mad at himself, at the world. He was mad at the fact that he was such a coward.
I don't know how I can do without, I just need you now
He threw the whiskey bottle in his hands in an heated rage. The tears rolling down his face proved that the thirty-seven year old truly did love his rookie.
As Olive finished crying, she picked herself up from the floor. The heart in her chest pained her but she pushed through
I guess I'd rather hurt than feel nothing at all
It's a quarter after one
I'm all alone and I need you now.
Olive placed a hand on her skyline window, looking out among the millions of lights.
And I said I wouldn't call
But I'm a little drunk
and I need you now
Ethan sipped from one of his many other bottle, looking out amoung the storm ahead.
And I don't know how I can do without
I just need you now
I just need you now
Oh baby I need you now
