Luna walked silently next to the prince. She felt her heart racing and he looked over at her, smiling.

"I want to try something." Before Luna could ask what it was, he pushed her to a wall and passionately kissed her. Luna felt some tingles and she kissed him back, her fingers threading through his hair. She could feel him smirk against her lips as his hands roamed her body. He found a slit in her dress and his hand disappeared. Luna pulled her lips away from him and he started kissing her neck and mark.

"Prince... please..." she panted, she felt him rub her through her underwear. He growled low against her neck and she shoved him away. His growl echoed throughout the room and his eyes were glowing.

"Stop," her fangs were elongated.

"My family is here. And in case you forgot. I. Don't. Want. You!" She screamed at him, her hands flailing. He stepped closer to her, and each step he took was slow, deliberate. She moved her emerald eyes from his expensive shoes to his chiseled face.

"Really? You kissed me back. You breathed in my scent. Every time I'm near you that lovely heart of yours beats faster."

"Like my father said, that's because of the stupid half mate bond you put on me!" Luna hissed and backed away with each step he took. Connor rolled his eyes and licked his lips.

"Oh Luna, quit kidding yourself. If we weren't true mates that mark would constantly be burning and would hurt. You haven't mentioned any pain. Every time I even graze it you fight a moan." Connor had backed her up to a desk, she couldn't go around him. He leaned forward and kissed then licked her mark. Her whole body shivered and he smiled at her.

"See?"

"That proves nothing." She spat at him, but she had learned the same thing in training. There were people who had thought they were mates and their marks were hideous and burned a lot. Maybe they're wrong. Luna was just hoping she was a weird case. The prince couldn't be her mate. Jagger was her rightful one. The one she wanted. How would his mark affect her now that she was half claimed? It wasn't totally sealed, they hadn't had sex.

"After the games, this fucking thing is coming off."

"You won't have to worry about it after the games. It'll be completed and sealed. You can bet on that one, Love."

Jagger had sat at his table with his father and mother. His teen sister was talking to her friend who lived in the castle. He had gotten his eyes, lips, and hair from his mother. Jagger got his body type and attitude from his father. He had told all of them about Luna.

"So, where's your mate?" Leigh asked as she looked around. Jagger looked at his little sister and pointed over to the royals table.

"She's the blonde next to the prince." His words hung in the air, random chattering continued around the room, however.

"Oh Lunalyn Carter! We've seen her on the news! She's stunning! Her father's a good man." Lucy nodded her head, her black hair falling forward.

"We'll go say 'hi' to them, get an excuse to get you over to her." Lucy winked at her son. His mom was devious, wicked smart, and a fierce warrior for her children.

"I see that hideous thing in her neck." Jeffrey, Jagger's father curled his lip in disgust.

"Yeah, that's from the story I told you all about." The Bane family watched Luna as she caught up with her family. Her father said something that made her throw her head back in laughter. Jagger's parents stole a quick glance at their son and saw he was smitten. His eyes shone for her, and they knew if she could see the way he was looking at her...

"She's pretty."

"She's the most beautiful person I've ever seen." Jagger breathed, unable to tear his eyes away from Luna. She moved her emerald eyes to his blue ones and her smile widened. Jagger smiled back and they heard a growl from the prince. He grabbed Luna's hand and was kissing all over it, glaring at Jagger all the while.

"How immature and childish." Jeffrey hmphed as he finished his meal. Jagger had hurried and finished his, because if he knew his mother, the moment she was done with dessert, she was going to march the entire family over there to see the Carters. He could only imagine how the prince would feel. Jagger just hoped his mother could keep herself composed so he didn't have to fight the prince in front of everyone and their families.

"You know, Honey, there's something I've noticed." Lucy said as she sat down her wine chalice. Jagger looked up from his ice cream, an eyebrow quirked.

"There's other mates that are marked, but it looks like most of the girls at his table aren't marked. Were there any rules or regulations about markings?" Jagger paused, and thought back. It hit him, the prince himself had changed the rules so Luna would remain unmarked until the arena. Jagger straightened and smirked over at the royals' table. Got you, Bastard.
