Charlie sits uncomfortably in the armchair, her jaw set. She doesn't want to be here."So...Charlotte, tell us about you. What kind of person has our daughter married?" The Captain asks Charlie.
She takes a deep breath and looks over to Addison, her wife just smiles. She really doesn't want to be here.
"Well...I was born and raised in Boston. I have three brothers, I'm the middle child." She looks between her in-laws, they just stare back unimpressed by what they are hearing. "I went to medical school at Perelman-"
"Perelman? That's not even in the top ten." Bizzy laughs and Charlie shifts in her seat.
"I decided it was best for me, and someone people say it's ranked higher than Yale and Columbia." She says, and Addison turns to look at her with a raise of her eyebrow, Charlie stares straight ahead. "I completed med school and then got matched at Seattle Grace, then I met your daughter." Charlie smiles awkwardly.
"Did you marry her for the money?" Bizzy asks straight out and it blindsides Charlie.
"I...no. No, I didn't, whatever money Addison has is hers." She says with confidence, hoping to disapprove of any ideas they have about her.
"So you're not interested in her 25 million dollars?"
Charlie's eyes widen. How much? "I'm sorry?" She squeaks out.
"Well, she has her 25 million dollar trust fund and a few property investments I believe. You have the New York Brownstone, your house in the Hamptons and the little beachouse, don't you?" Addison is quiet but nods her head.
Now, Charlie knew she had money, but not money money. She thought her wife only had a couple thousand saved away; she didn't realise she was married to a literal millionaire. Charlie zones out, her mom paid for the wedding and Addison is a millionaire. "Would you excuse me for a minute?" Charlie smiles, gets up from her place in the living room and walks out into the yard, followed closely by Red. Addison takes a minute and then stands up, ready to follow her wife outside.
"Addison," Her father says to her, catching her arm. She thinks he's going to give her some advice. "Be a dear and get me a drink," He holds out his glass, Addison sets her jaw and takes it from his hands. She slams it down on the kitchen island and goes outside.
Charlie's throwing a ball for Red, he's barking and jumping about. "Go get it, buddy." She says to the dog.
"Want to talk about what that was?" Addison folds her arms and stands behind her wife on the deck. Red runs back with the ball and Charlie takes it from his mouth, she squeezes it in her hand, ready to throw it.
"Why didn't you tell me you were a millionaire?" Charlie says over her shoulder.
"It's not exactly something I like to advertise Charlie."
