"Who are you?" When she giggles I hear the soft chatter of dolphins. The girl, with her long blond and red curls, the girl who I believe is half werewolf half mermaid, the one with the bright green eyes, walks over to me like she has all the time in the world. Her skin seems brighter, shinier, then in my dream.
"That's not important right now-"
"But-" I yelp. She quickly raises her hand to silence me, and looks deeply into my eyes.
"-you will listen to me for your life depends on it. I come deep within the ocean's vast spaces carrying a message for you." She hands me a blue piece of paper that reads:
Beware of the pack you call home, for they will not be the ones that save you but destroy you in the end. Have little pity on the beings who ask for shelter and warm food to fill their stomachs. Do not fear the ones who come with weapons and power, for your greatest defense is you and the gold that glows bright. Be strong because that is what you were placed here to do. Be powerful for only you can stop them. Be the Luna for only you shine brighter then the darkness they will cast upon your heart.
- That's a little specific -
Before I can even look at the mysterious girl she says, "you are destined for greatness, child. You will save many lives but in return lose one."
I'm so puzzled by this. "What is this? what do you mean?"
"It is foretold in one of the oceans most ancient prophecies: puellam Lupus et draco, girl of wolf and dragon, that a powerful Luna with a powerful weapon, will save the lives of thousands."
"Why me?" I point at the paper, "I never asked for this."
She looks at me curiously. Then a sudden anger glows in her eyes. She swiftly steps in front of me, knocking me over by sliding her foot around my leg. I fall to the sand stunned by the sudden move. Her fierce eyes glow red. Voices call out around her, but no one is to be seen. She opens her mouth, white light glowing from it.
"How dare you question Detorique's decisions! He is the one who decides who the savor is! You must except it, for your destiny is sealed." And with that, the girl disappears turning into a splash of water and traveling back into the ocean. I get up, still shaken, and brush away the sand from my clothes.
Detorique. I haven't heard that name since I move to this pack. He was the First Wolf. He created werewolves out of his own suffering. And it is rumored that he created the Matrix Hybrid of a wolf, human, bird, and fish. Detorique is widely worshiped by most packs, while some believe in other deities.
Suddenly, I am overcome by a sharp pain on my wrist. I let out a wretched scream, falling to my knees while grabbing the area of skin, tears running down my face.
When I finally feel no pain, I glance at my wrist, trembling. Dark red blood oozes from it, slowly being washed away by a water that has appeared out of no where. A symbol becomes visible, and I know my life has change forever.
Carved in my flesh is a single word:
Matrix
