-explain to me again why we need to go to Keenan's house at 3:30 in the morning?-

-He's going to help explain the unexplained-

We are both running side by side, sprinting as fast as we can to Keenan's. He lives about a mile away from our house.

-trust no one- my wolf says, -always remember that-

I hadn't heard from her since.

We finally arrive at Keenan's. All the lights are on except for the room where I'm assuming his mate is sleeping. I kind of feel bad for Kékko. (KAY-CO) She must spend her nights watching Keenan type on the computer. He's very sweet. And for a computer guy.... he's actually pretty attractive. And Kékko tells me that he's not bad when it comes to 'sleeping' if you know what I mean.

I didn't want to know all of that at all.

We shift and knock softly on the door. Cam manages to slip his arm around my waist as Keenan pops his head out.

"Hurry, hurry come in." We step in while he looks out the door like someone could be watching. He leads us to his computer room, which I haven't been in for months. Years actually.

Papers are scattered across a big oak wood table. Books are stacked sideways and on top of each other on shelves. Anything from Proper Potions to Living with Wer to the Harry Potter series. He has a computer, well three computers side by side sitting on the oak table. Different graphs and charts and numbers and letters are representing themselves on the screens. A coffee mug sits next to the computer. In the back is a window, curtains drawn, trying to keep every ounce of light in. There's also a dead plant in a pot next to the window. Now I see, in the corner, a long brown leather couch. Pillows thrown around it like a tornado swept in. Overall, it's pretty cozy place.

Keenan walks in, quietly closes the door, then gestures us to sit on the couch. Cam lets go of my waist and escorts me to it.

Keenan sits on his chair by the computer, quickly types something and turns toward us. "So," he says quietly, "I've done some research." He slides himself to the side so we can easily see the computer screen.

"You really think she's a....mermaid?" A confused Cam asks.

"Yes. I do."

"How do you know though? I mean for all we know, she's just a lone wolf."

"Exactly. Have anyone of you tried to talk to her since her visit?" Keenan sharply asks.

"I have." I say calmly, "I asked her where she's from, when she shifted, and if her father was an alpha or not. But that's pretty much it."

"What did she say?"

"Umm, she said that she's been everywhere. That she was 11 when she shifted, she was the only red wolf in her family, and she didn't know if her father was alpha or not."

"That's unusual. Every wolf born in a clan knows if their father is alpha, or their mother Luna."

"Maybe it was her brother."

"I don't think so. I typed in her name in the data base, and no wolf clans came up. It was weird actually. Usually every clan publishes a record of their pack members. I'm definitely certain she's a mermaid."

"Just because if that? that doesn't prove anything." Cam grumbles, "just because some new wolf joined the pack, that we don't know about, doesn't mean we jump to conclusions. It's just a coincidence that no information came up about her. She can't be a mermaid and a wolf. That's impossible."

Keenan mumbles, "Not if your a hybrid."

Cameron gives him a questioning look.

"I know you don't believe me, yet, but when I typed in her name, packs didn't come up. Shoals did."

"What's a shoal?" I ask.

"It's like a pack, for mermaids. They live together like we do and they battle together. They don't have an alpha, they have a king. Or at least I think that is true."

"We better go." Cameron says nervously, "its almost dawn.''

"Think carefully about what I said."
