was camping with my cousins. We always went to the same spot in the mountains by ourselves. It was the first year our parents let us go without them. We were excited because we've wanted to do this for years.
We drove up in our trucks and decided just to sleep in the back of them with our sleeping bags. That meant we didn't need tents. We got everything we needed and left. Of course us being teens, we took a projector to watch horror movies. After we watched two or three we decided to tell ghost stories.
The oldest was Cody. We told a dull story about a doll that was like Chucky. The next was Sarah. Her story was about a girl that would kill you if you feed her. Then Cameron. She told the story of the-wisp. It was a family story about how the wind carried angry ghosts.
This is the story: When someone dies, you better hope they liked you when they were alive. If they didn't the wisp will carry their spirit to you. The wisp will help them get their last bit of revenge, and it will be agonizing.
That's not the exact way she said it but something about the story freaked me out. We decided to go to bed, but I knew we couldn't. Something was keeping all of us awake. Eventually, we all sat up to talk about it. At that moment there was a gust of wind. I heard a scream. I looked to everyone and they looked like they heard it too.
We all got into the same truck. We were shacking, cold, and scared. I kept seeing shadows of people. I never caught a straight on glimpse of what they were. Cody told us to get in the truck so he could look around. We piled in and shut the doors. He was gone for thirty minutes. We heard him scream making us all jump.
He hopped in the truck, started it, and took off down the mountain. We asked what happened. he said there was a man under my truck. He found his footprints all around us. The scream was because the man started to crawl from under the truck.
Once we had service, we called the police. There was a search for the man and he was eventually caught. They never announced where he came from or where they took him. Frankly, we were just happy to be alive.
