THIRD PERSON POV

MAYFIELD HOUSEHOLD, HAWKINS INDIANA

Max had invited Felix over the next day to hang out. They had been pretty close since she joined the party, as he welcomed her with open arms. They told each other everything. Max was reading a magazine, and Felix was reading a comic book.

Felix put down the comic. "Max... can I tell you something important?"

She nodded, putting down the magazine, and turning down the radio. "Of course! What's up?"

He sighed. "Uhm... well, you know how I've never dated anyone? And, how everyone asks me, 'when are you gonna get a girlfriend?'"

"Yeah, but that's okay, everyone falls in love at different times. It doesn't have to be now, we're still young." She smiled.

"Well... IthinkImightbegay..." His accent, and how fast he spoke made it impossible to understand what he said.

She stared blankly. "What?"

"I think I might be gay." He looked up, and met her gaze with his good eye. Her face was full of happiness, and acceptance.

"I'm so proud of you, Fe! Thank you for telling me!" She hugged him super tight. "Okay, I'm going to teach you how to skateboard." She grabbed his hand, and dragged him outside. He was so happy she supported him. When Max began teaching him how to skateboard, he fell, and scraped his knee. They both laughed. She attempted a trick, and the skateboard rolled. Someone stopped it with their foot. It was Eleven.

She approached them. "Hi."

"Hi?" Max took the skateboard from her.

"Can we... talk?" Max nodded, and they all went inside.

~~~
"And then he just... hung up." Eleven finished and sighed.
"He's a piece of shit." Felix sat down beside El.
Eleven stared with wide eyes. "What?"
"Mike doesn't have jackshit to do today, and his nana obviously isn't sick," Max sat on her other side. "You're going to stop calling him. As far as you're concerned, he doesn't exist!"
"Doesn't exist?"
Felix nodded. "Mhm, give him a taste of his own medicine. And, if he doesn't fix this, doesn't explain himself, dump his ass."
Max grabbed our hands. "Come on!"
"Where are we going?" El was confused.
"To have some fun! There's more to life than stupid boys you know."
WILL'S POV
Earlier that day...
BYERS HOUSEHOLD, HAWKINS INDIANA
I sat down for breakfast, and began drizzling syrup onto the pancakes my mom had prepared. Jonathan ran in, with a lipstick mark on his cheek. He said bye to us, and left. I knew he had spent the night with Nancy.
I shuddered. "Gross..."
My mom laughed. "I don't think you'll think it's gross when you fall in love!"
I looked at her, lightly blushing. "I'm not gonna... fall in love..."
"Oh, yeah?" She looked at me, smirking. "How about... Jenny, from school. You know, the one with the blonde hair? Or... no... maybe Felix?"
I went beet-red. "What? No! Mom... I'm not in love with Felix. He's my best friend, and he's a boy. Wouldn't that be weird?"
She shook her head. "No, of course not, you love who you love!" I smiled. Did I like Felix?
PRESENT TIME
STARCOURT MALL, HAWKINS INDIANA
Mike had dragged me and Lucas out to the mall to buy a gift for Eleven. An apology gift, I believe he called it. All I wanted to do was play D&D, and hang out with Felix.
"No one told me an apology gift would be so expensive!" Mike sat on a bench, and Lucas and I sat down too.
"Just apologize with words, stop being an ass." I shook my head.
Lucas and Mike shook their heads. "Let's go look again."
FELIX'S POV
Max and I got some new clothes for El, and we were about to get ice cream from Scoops Ahoy. I got chocolate.
Steve handed us our ice cream, and gave a questioning look to El. "Are you even allowed to be here?" The girls ran, and I said no. But something else caught my attention. A Russian-English dictionary sat on the counter. The girls were waiting for me outside.
"Translating Russian?" I laughed. "You've your own translator here."
He shook his head. "Never mind, just go, it's not important."
"No, what is it?" I asked, picking up the dictionary.
"Nothing, just forget it." Steve snatched the dictionary from from hands. I took the hint and ran to catch up with El and Max.
As we exited the mall, there was Lucas, Mike and Will, getting their bikes ready to leave.
"Isn't this a nice surprise?"
