it wasn't long before the tunnel started to get hot.

well, to percy and annabeth as sweat pooled down their face.

[name]—like always—barely felt the heat and was in better shape then her friends.

which percy noticed as he glanced at her while running, letting out a groan. "how do you still look good even though it's like a 100 degrees in here?"

the blonde smirked at the boy, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "i guess i'm just better than you."

however right when those words left her lips, an unexpected rock came upon the path—tripping [name] and almost sending her face forward; when suddenly percy swiftly reached out.

his fingers tightened around her upper arm , pulling her into him as the blonde regained her balance.

"i think i'm the better one after that little move, huh?"

back against his chest, percy's breath fawned across her warm cheeks as he leaned over her shoulder — a cheeky smirk painted on his tan face.

[name] quickly pushed off of him. "—you didn't see anything, fish sticks!" and continued to run, blonde strands bouncing at each step.

the boys intense look towards her face turned into a look of disgust when he really processed [name] words. "worst nickname ever! probably comes first now after annabeth — no yeah it definitely does."

[name] bursted out laughing, shaking her head as she managed to push out. "i-it suits you though! race you to her!"

pushing off her toes, the blonde haired girl felt a boast towards her stamina at just the fact of beating percy at a race, since she was in first st the moment.

but sadly, it seems percy jackson really did live up to his name as he managed to run pass her in a matter of seconds, sending a toothy grin behind his shoulder.

[name] rolled her eyes dramatically at the action, soon looking around as she noticed the stone walls glowing brightly.

the tunnel sloped down and the girl could hear a loud roar, like a river of metal. the spider skittered along, with annabeth right behind.

"hey, wait up," percy called to her, seemingly unfazed from the little race between him and [name].

she glanced back at him. "yeah?"

"something hephaestus said back there... about athena."

"she swore never to marry," annabeth said. "like artemis and hestia. she's one of the maiden goddesses."
