Chapter Twenty Three
Delayla
It felt like an eternity since I last saw light. When I opened my eyes to find myself in the hospital, I was glad, I missed reality. I blinked a few times as I saw the nurse peer over at me excitedly, then went away to notify the doctor.
I tried to get up, but went back to bed as I started to see black dots in my vision. How long have I been out for? The doctor and the nurse came into my room a minute later, "Hello." The doctor greeted, "My name is Doctor Brown, I'm going to ask you a few questions."
I nodded."What's your name?" He asked.
"Delayla." I answered.
"What is the last thing you remember?"
I racked my brain trying to remember, "I was in a car." I answered.
Doctor Brown nodded and asked a few other questions, "You must be really hungry." Dr. Brown said after he was finished, "The nurses will bring you some food."
My stomach grumbled when he said it, he laughed and walked away. A few minutes later a nurse came into the room with a tray of sandwiches and a glass of water, I hungrily chugged the water down and scoffed the sandwich down my throat.
After that I examined my body, my whole body was covered in yellow coloured bruises. I had a lot of scratches and cuts and I could feel a huge bump on my head, I rested my head on the pillow and closed my eyes to rest.

I opened my eyes to find Lion sitting next to my bed, he looked like he hadn't slept for days and had a worried look on his face. When he noticed that I had awakened, he smiled, "Hey." He croaked out weakly.
He rubbed his eyes tiredly, "Hi." I answered.
"You had us all worried." I heard a voice interrupt.
I looked around to see that Violet, Andy and my parents were also in the room, "Violet, Andy, Mum, Dad!" I said in joy.
They came up to me and all gave me a hug, telling me how worried, they had been. They reluctantly let me go as I settled back to bed, "What happened?" I asked."You got in a car crash with Juan." Lion answered.
I frowned, "Really?"
Now I remembered, Juan and I were arguing and Juan wasn't paying attention to the road. We ended up crashing through the trees.
"You had us all worried sweetheart." Mum said, "Lion told me that you followed Juan home to Sally's house, why would you do that?"
"Hey." I put my hands up in surrender, "Lion suggested it."
"I was helping a good friend." Lion defended.
My shoulders slumped, "I was just worried about Juan and wanted him to come home."
Mum's and Dad's eyes softened as they looked at me, "Oh Delayla." Dad said.
"Just be careful next time and don't argue with Juan in the car." Mum cracked a smile.
I smiled at her little joke.
"How long have I been out for?" I asked.
My friends and my parents shifted nervously, "How long have I been out?" I asked again.
"A month." Andy answered.
"A month!" I said freaking out.
That was 31 days that I missed out on my life, I panicked, "Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked.
Lion shook his head, "We couldn't wake you up."
"Your body needed to heal." Violet added.
"Why?" I said, "My body can still heal when I'm awake."
"You were in a coma." Dad answered.
I stared at him shocked processing what he just said, "I was in a coma?" I repeated whispering.
They all nodded, "You had it worse then Juan." Lion answered bitterly.
I took a few minutes for me to accept that I had just been in a coma, "Where's Juan?" I asked.
My parents and my friends looked at each other nervously not knowing what to say, "He's not here." Lion answered.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "What do you mean?"
"He's already been discharged from the hospital." Violet answered, "He was already healed so they let him go."
I looked at them and noticed they weren't telling me the whole thing, "Tell me what's going on with Juan." I demanded, "I know you haven't been telling me the whole thing."
No one said anything, "Tell me please." I said.
"Juan's going to court." Andy answered suddenly.
"What! Why?" I asked.
"The police found out." Violet said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"They found out about the shoplifting, the plumbing and the electricity." Lion answered."They also found out that Juan broke his second chance." Mum explained.
I started to panic, I sat there shocked, "Wait is he in court at the very moment?" I asked.
My friends and parents nodded, "Where?" I asked.
"The court house near our house." Dad answered.
I looked at the infuser needle that was stuck in my arm, an idea slowly formed into my head. "Delayla are you alright?" Mum asked worried.
I suddenly ripped the infuser needle of my arm, Lion looked taken aback as I jumped out of the bed and started to run as fast as I could, out of the hospital.
