27. The Time When Lion and Juan Teamed up Together

A few weeks later, everything was going well. Juan was recovering very well, he was now only taking his shot every week and was only smoking a cigarette; once a week, which was going considerably well.

"Delayla, wake up." I heard Juan say, as he poked my ribs.
I yawned and opened my eyes, I was face to face with a smiling Juan and his chiseled chest, yum. "Hurry up and get ready for my football match." Juan ordered.
I lazily got up and started to get ready, I had to go to Juan's football match because I was on the cheerleading squad, and had to cheerlead for Juan's football team.
As I got down, I was greeted by the scent of eggs being cooked.

Juan was dressed in his football jersey, holding a saucepan with two omelets on it, "Morning!" Juan greeted me.
"Morning." I said back.
I honestly don't know when Juan learnt to cook, but he's a really good at it.
He finished cooking the omelets and put the two omelets in separate plates. He took a fork out from the drawer and put it on one of the plates, handing the omelets to me, "Eat up." He ordered, "We have a long morning ahead of us."

He then went on making us a cup of coffee from the coffee machine, he handed me a cup of coffee, "Thank you." I said accepting it.
I quickly scoffed down the omelette, Juan wrinkled his nose, "You eat like a pig." He said.
"You do too." I said, as I grabbed my cup of coffee and sipped on it.
Juan grinned at me, Mum and Dad were out at work. They apologised to Juan for not making it to his football game, but promised him that I would come.

"I've got a surprise for you." Juan said.
I gave him a confused expression, he hurried off upstairs. A minute later, he came downstairs with a jersey. I stared at him in shock as he gave it to me, "For you." Juan said to me, "I want you to wear it in the football game."
It was Juan's jersey, my whole body filled with happiness, "Thank you." I smiled, "I'll go and change."
"Good." Juan said.

I went into the bathroom and quickly changed into Juan's jersey and walked out. Juan was waiting outside patiently, "Let's go." Juan said.
"I'm going to have to take it off you know." I said, "I have to cheerlead for the team."
Juan just scoffed, "Just wear the jersey over your cheerleading uniform." he said, as we got into the car.
"Don't blame me when I get kicked off the squad because I wasn't wearing the uniform correctly." I huffed.
Juan didn't say anything as we drove to school.

As we went into school, I quickly went to the girls bathroom to change into my cheerleading uniform. After I was done, I put Juan's jersey over my cheerleading uniform. I went out of the bathroom and noticed Juan; standing outside waiting for me.

We walked to the football field where we were immediately greeted by people from our school, "Delayla you're here!" Violet said as she came up to me, "We have to do a quick practise on our routine."
I looked over to Juan; who nodded, "See you later." I said.
Juan smirked, "Can't wait to see you cheerlead."

Violet gave me a smirk as Juan walked away, "Is that Juan's jersey I see you wearing?"
I blushed, Violet raised an eyebrow, "You guys together?"
"No." I said feeling deflated.
Violet said nothing but gave me a look of sympathy, Violet and I walked to where the cheerleaders were gathered. Coach was there waiting for us to arrive, "Great, Delayla you're here."

Coach raised an eyebrow when he saw the jersey on me, "You're wearing Juan's jersey aren't you."
"I can take it off." I said, as I started to take it off.
"No, it's fine." Coach waved his hand dismissively, "You can leave it on."
I looked at him surprised, "I can leave it on?"
"Well, it is the team's jersey, so why not." The coach said, "Now everyone get into your positions."
We quickly got into our positions and quickly went through a few of our routines and cheers.

We then sat down at the benches, waiting for the game to begin. Our team and the opposing team gathered in the middle of the field, with the ball in the middle. The referee stood in the middle, he blew his whistle; calling attention to both sides. Lion and a guy from the other team walked into the middle, the referee threw the ball in the air.

The guy from the other team got the ball, we got up and started to cheer for our team. We cheered extra louder when a player from our team got the ball.

It was halftime and the team was called for a break, our team wasn't doing so well. Juan and Lion jogged over to us, their shirt's covered in sweat. As soon as Lion saw me, he had a puzzled expression on his face, "Is that Juan's jersey?"
"Yes it is." Juan said coming up behind him.
"How's it going?" I asked them politely.
"Not so well." Lion said.
"You'll do good." I advised, "You all have to just work together."
I handed Juan and Lion both a bottle of cold water, which they accepted gratefully.

"Guys, you're up." Coach said, indicating that the break was over.
Juan came up surprised me, by planting a kiss on the lips, "Wish me luck." Juan winked at me.
Warmth filled my body, "I will." I said.
I watched Juan run back into the field and I realised; everything was going to be perfectly fine.
