The celebrations seemed like they lasted longer than they did. We knew we had a celebration at Trafalgar Square the morning after. But Lucy still invited us all out for drinks. The night after we won was alot to take in, there was lots of singing and even more dancing. If you can call Lucy's 'the robot' a dance move. Not going to lie I don't remember much from that night, but as the day went on at Trafalgar Square; and my head ( and hangover ) stated to clear up, I began remembering more details from that night.

"Welcome. Everyone, the winners of the Women's Euro's 2022; The Lionesses!!" Alex Scott introduced, the squad sauntered onto the stage, most of us wearing a range of sunglasses or in a few of the girls cases, ski goggles, to block the pounding headaches.

To be completely honest the Trafalgar Square celebration was a bit of a shitshow, most. If not all of us had no idea what we were doing, Alex led us into questions and offered us to tell stories from the Euro's. Lucy was extremely hungover, and could barely stand up straight when it came to her turn on the mic.
"Lucy. What's the best thing about this team? The Lionesses?"
Lucy took a minute to compose herself, "Jill Scott."
A cheer rung out from the crowds, and laughter filled Trafalgar Square.
"Thank you for that Lucy." Alex chuckled, "Now. Alina."

I took a step forwards towards Alex, and smiled at the woman warmly. I'd only ever met her once at a party of some sort. But she seemed lovely.
"So Alina. The winning goal of the tournament," The squad around me cheered loudly, Keira and Lucy being the loudest. Alex laughed before carrying on, "now, tell me truthfully. How much of yesterday do you actually remember?"
I rolled my eyes slightly, laughing at the dark haired woman,
"Of the night time? Very little." I chuckled, "of the match. Every second."
"Very good to hear. I know you've probably been asked this is tons of interviews already, but how are you, after the injury? Has everything gone back to normal?"
"Yeah, pretty much. The physio team are still checking me over frequently, just to make sure. But I feel the same as I did before, better even."
"That is amazing to hear. Thank you Alina." I smiled at Alex then took a step back into my place. The actual talk on stage didn't last too long, but we sung and danced infront of the hundreds of thousands of people that had turned up in London for the afterparty of sorts.

The team headed back to a bar after the after-party, but I drove to to Trafalgar Square so knew I couldn't drink. Some of the girls may have forgotten that fact.
"Alina? Why aren't you drinking?"
"Because Lauren. Unlike you I actually remembered that I have to drive home tonight."
"Ah. Oh shit. I forgot."
"Yeah." I chuckle, "I can tell."
Lauren sighed, smiling slightly,
"Don't worry about it. I'll get you home. You have fun." I reply, smiling at the blonde. She was already tipsy, and anyone could tell. She threw an arm over my shoulders, rocking her body into mine in rhythm to the music. She ran her arms down mine and grabbed my hands, attempting to drag me out onto the dancefloor. I rolled my eyes at the girl, but she still stood infront of me; holding my hands, with a extremely cute look on her face. I tilted my head at the blonde, holding her eyeline and unknowingly smirking.
"Pleasee." She smiled,
"Fine." I chuckled, allowing the blonde to drag me slightly more. She didn't stop smiling as we reached the dancefloor. I watched over Lauren's shoulder as Lucy headed towards the bar, I caught her eye over the few people on the dance floor. And widened them, as if to tell her whatever she was planning to do, DONT DO IT. But it was already done, and as she crept away from the bar the music changed from harsh and upbeat to soft and slow. I caught the brunettes eyes again as she pulled Keira onto the floor with us, the couple chuckled. I shifted my gaze to Lauren, the blonde moved closer, I rest my hands on her waist, the way I normally would if she was so close and she hooked her arms around my neck. And in that moment, it's sounds so cliché I know, but it was just us. No one else. Lauren put her head on my shoulder. I turned and messily placed a kiss on the side of her head, right next to her ear. Neither of us said a word, even after the song had finished and gone back to the upbeat, harsh music. Instead we stayed, enjoying each others company. Me, completely sober and her, slightly drunk.
