While Pearl was putting Steven to sleep, Amethyst remained at the arena, facing the tablet for a few minutes, deep in thought. She was burning with curiosity to know what happened, but, at the same time, she could tell it wasn't something good and maybe it was better not to know it. As she pondered whether to continue reading or not, Pearl appeared in front of her.
"Are you going to keep reading?" Pearl asked, visibly trying to mask her own interest.
"You want to know more too, don't you?" Amethyst asked, wanting to confirm her suspicions about the other's behavior, then she thought that maybe Pearl didn't want to admit her own curiosity and that's why she was disguising it, "Well, even if it doesn't interest you, could you keep reading for me?"
"Yes, I'll keep reading, since I don't have anything better to do," Pearl said as she took seat beside Amethyst, who passed her the tablet.
"What do you think happened?" Amethyst asked.
"Probably something that had caused Red Diamond's disappearance, I suppose. May I begin?"
"Go ahead."
Pearl restarted reading.
***********
Obviously, Yellow didn't keep our argument just between the two of us, she told the others what happened and everything I said, then they wanted explanations.
I was summoned to a meeting; they didn't inform me of the subject and I was to go alone. I was already expecting something of the sort, but there was no way to predict how our conversation would go. I would try to keep calm as much as possible and to not take provocations, which would be very hard considering everything that could come from Yellow and Pink, those who I argued with the most and with the passing of time the discussions were getting more and more intense.
In the meeting room we usually sat at our characteristic thrones in a circle. They were all there already without their pearls, which called my attention. Certainly the conversation would have a high level of secrecy, since not even the diamond's most trusted servants could be present. When I came in, already in my diamond size, I immediately noticed how tense and hostile the atmosphere was. If I had the option, I probably would've turned around and left, but since I couldn't do it, I walked to my throne and sat, waiting for someone to speak.
"Red, we called you here due your disagreement with Yellow," said White, sounding as if she was carefully picking the words she was using.
"What do you expect me to do?" I asked.
"That you explain yourself," said Blue. "That you tell us what happened and the reasons why you did what you did and said what you said then."
"Very well," I said, "On that day I had done many tasks in sequence for many hours. When Yellow entered my chambers, I was sleeping with the aid of my white pearl. I had ordered my gems to not disturb me unless due to a war-related subject and nothing more. Yellow ordered my pearl to wake me and she refused, saying that she only took orders from her diamond, currently me. Yellow got mad and was about to punish her when I woke up with a headache and unable to think clearly."
"Are you going to say that it was all due to your headache?" said Yellow angrily.
"Maybe if you could feel what I feel, you wouldn't mock me because of my pain, Yellow," I said, "I'm not blaming the pain, but certainly it contributed to my impulsive and aggressive behavior. Anyway, I'm attached to the few gems I have, then if someone attacks them it's as if they are attacking me, be it verbally or physically. When I woke up and saw Yellow ready to attack my pearl, I acted in reflex. As I said, I wasn't thinking clearly, so I don't know if I would have attacked her or not.
