RD2 - 013: Proof of trust

RED: For how long do you plan to stay hidden in there? — She asked, annoyed.

From between the leaves of the buses came the Crystal Gems followed by Steven and Peridot.

RED: What are you doing here?

STEVEN: We were worried about you! — Said the boy with honesty, however Red Diamond couldn't see that worry being shared by the others.

RED: I think you were the only one who came for that reason, — she said, staring at the gems while crossing her arms. — You came to see if I wasn't going to betray you, didn't you?

AMETHYST: It wasn't that!

PERIDOT: We didn't think you would betray us, but you could...

RED: Talk too much, — she finished, seeing that she was on the spot. — Even so, you didn't have to stay hearing until the end. I'm sure that at any moment it was clear you were not the subject, then you should have left.

PERIDOT: But you said that you would be fine even with the Cluster about to form. That must have made her suspect you know something about it or that you can do something about it.

DARK RED: Blue still believes that this thing will destroy the planet. The main question is how I won't be affected. She has no idea the Cluster had already been stopped, maybe she believes nothing could stop it. Anyway, any of that was about you.

GARNET: How can you be like that with her? After everything she did to you, to me and this planet... How can you still be gentle and affectionate with Blue Diamond?!

Garnet was clearly angry with the situation, to her, Red Diamond should see the other diamonds as enemies, but based on what she had seen and heard it wasn't how the red one felt about it.

DARK RED: What would you rather we had done? Would you rather we had broken or bubbled her?

GARNET: She is dangerous!

RED: Regardless of what we feel about Blue, she didn't come here to attack anyone, she came to visit a grave! I don't know if you know, Garnet, but Sapphire does. Despite everything terrible that we have done in our lives, we have some principles.

DARK RED: Put your anger and fear aside and use your head. What good would bring us if we had attacked her? It would only make Yellow and White throw at us everything Homeworld has that is most destructive.

RED: We all have more than enough reasons to hate Blue, but WE still like her. We still see her as someone important that we don't want to hurt nor for her to get hurt. We understand and respect your reasons, Garnet, then respect ours.

Red Diamond was angry and upset, that was visible. Garnet was silent, probably Ruby and Sapphire were talking inside her. The other gems didn't know what to do. They were ashamed and sorry, even Steven felt that way, even if the idea of spying the red diamond hadn't crossed his mind.

Garnet seemed to be about to say something, but she was cut by Red Diamond.

RED: This talk will take us nowhere. We need to calm down. We're going to the Beta for a while, later we will meet you back in the Garden, – she said, then she took flight without waiting for an answer.

AMETHYST: We messed up badly, — she said with her head down.

PERIDOT: What do we do now?

GARNET: We go back to the Garden and wait for her to meet us there as she said she would.

PEARL: Did she really go to the Beta Kindergarten?

AMETHYST: Come on, Pearl! Give Red a break!
