Dark Red kept talking.

***********

We told the other diamonds that during our first war, after combat, Red lost control and I ended up attacking everyone on my path and that it happened to be gems.

It was a lie.

We were not in command in that war, it was a Nephrite. She thought we had been sent there for just a whim from the other diamonds.

NEPHRITE: My Diamond, don't worry about anything. We have more than enough gems to conquer this planetoid.

RED: But I want to help.

NEPHRITE: That's not necessary. See how our soldiers handle the natives with perfection.

Nephrite spent the whole time talking about perfection. Her perfection, the other diamonds' perfection, the soldiers' perfection and many other things.

She was clearly being snobbish and humiliating us for our defect; I'm less tolerant with it than Red, so as her anger grew, mine was the double.

Half of the army was in combat and the other half was at the gem base waiting for orders.

When I came up, Nephrite didn't notice any change.

NEPHRITE: This is going to be a perfect colony worthy of Homeworld.

— Do you mean that what is not perfect is not worthy of Homeworld? — I asked.

NEPHRITE: Of course! Defects should be broken the moment they emerge.

— Then you think I should have been shattered?

I already had my ax at hand when she noticed how much she had angered me.

NEPHRITE: My Diamond, I didn't have the intention... — She began, but I cut her off with a kick that made her fly some meters, hitting many gems of the army.

I walked to where she landed. The gems around us didn't know what to do, but got out of my way regardless as I walked.

— Come on, Nephrite. Show me your perfection. — I challenged her. — I want to see if you and this perfect army can handle the Red Broken Diamond.

She looked surprised, afraid and at the same time angry, her pride hurt.

— Did you think I didn't know what I'm called from behind my back? I may be broken, but my hearing is perfect [pause] Come on! Get up and show me what a perfect gem is! You and your army should be enough to shatter me as you think should have been done when I emerged, right?

NEPHRITE: GEMS! [pause] Attack this abomination!

The gems looked from me to Nephrite and chose to obey her.

It didn't bother me. I wanted to exterminate that perfection that had been thrown at our face since we got there. I shattered each one of those gems, leaving Nephrite for last.

— Where's your perfection now? — I asked her, holding her by the neck with my left hand while I held my ax with the right one, ready to shatter her.

She tried to say something like 'forgive', but I didn't give her any attention and finished her off.

Despite all the killing, I was still angry. I wanted to fight more, then I went after the other half of the army that was facing the natives and helped the gems, practically winning on my own.
