Rachel groaned as she heard the chirp from her phone, not understanding how that could be. She also didn't understand how she was on her bed nor how freaking bright it was in her room. She shifted her gaze to look out the window, but the shades were still drawn tight. She rubbed her eyes, about to move when Jake groaned behind her. She glanced at him over her shoulder and then at the dying fire. She didn't want to wake him, fuck, she didn't want to get out of bed, but if her phone was going off, that meant that somehow, service was working, and someone was trying to get a hold of her. And she had no doubt that, that someone was Jay.

She smiled to herself as she glanced down at the arm tight around her waist. She had liked falling asleep in his arms. Well, hell, being honest, she had liked everything that happened in that man's arms yesterday! But she knew that was it, that was all she was going to get, and it killed her. She didn't want the night to ever end, but she knew that was impossible. She also wished she could push back the time, just a little more, to savor being in his arms, but that was impossible as well. Jay was horrible when it came to her and not answering. Sure, she could use the excuse that maybe the messages weren't coming in, but if he tried to call and it rang, he would know.

She turned her attention back to the window for a moment, taking in the brightness. She was going to assume that the clouds had lifted and that the brightness was due to the fact of the snow and the reflection because up here, it was never quite that bright. And the clouds lifted enough, emergency crews would be working double time to make sure everything was restored for everyone as soon as possible. Well, she could already tell the cell phone towers were working. And sure enough, another ping came through.

She didn't want to wake Jake, but she would assume, as well, that if Jay couldn't get a hold of her, then he would be texting Jake. And she wanted to let Jake sleep for just a little longer. The world would be waiting for them soon enough. She licked her lips and glanced down at the arm once more before carefully lifting it and slowly scooting her way out from underneath it. The ache it left behind was going to take strong ass willpower to ignore as well.

Rachel lifted her robe and tiptoed out of the room, glad that the floors weren't the creaky type and wouldn't make extra noise. She made her way into the kitchen, checking the power, not sure if she was surprised to find it on or not. And honestly, she wasn't sure how she felt about it. Part of her was happy that it was on, sure. The other part knew that meant sooner, rather than later; someone was going to be here for them.

She let out a deep breath and started the coffee machine, figuring that both of them would need it, especially after the night they had. And fuck, her body was feeling it, but damn it if it didn't feel good. She honestly couldn't recall the last time she had felt so sore, but in such a good way, and she was basking in it now. Once the machine chimed at her, she grabbed her creamer, made her coffee, and walked out to the living room.

Rachel opened the blinds, surprised to see how much snow had been dumped over the night. Sure, it was a blizzard, and it was a hell of a storm, but she hadn't seen this much snow in years. And for as buried as they were, it was still going to take a hell of a time for them to get out. She took a sip of her coffee, hiding her smile as she did. Not that she thought sex was happening because she didn't think her body could handle that, but it sure would be nice to sit and talk to this man for a little bit longer before the world came and crashed on them again.

"Wow." She glanced over her shoulder at him as he stepped up behind her, coffee cup in hand. "That's a lot of snow."

"It is." His hand settled on her hip, and she leaned back against him. "Some services are up, however, I don't think anyone will be out to start moving this snow yet." He chuckled and brushed his lips over the top of her head.
