I practically flew to the entrance of my building.

If I had wings, I probably would’ve flown down from the 20th floor to the ground floor to greet Bella. That's how excited I was.

This morning, while I was at the studio, my mom called to let me know Bella was arriving.

So, I rushed home to clean my condo and prepare the guest room for her.

She’s going to be staying with me for a month.

My heart was racing so fast I could hardly catch my breath.

And then I saw her step out of the taxi.

She wore a mask and sunglasses.

But why was she wearing shorts and a crop top?

What if the taxi driver got any ideas?

"Hi, Z."

I stepped forward and took her luggage from the driver, then gently grabbed Bella’s hand and pulled her inside the building.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

"The driver was giving you a weird look."

"What? Really? Where?"

Once we were in the elevator, I realized I was still holding her hand.

Slowly, I let go, feeling a little embarrassed.

"He was nice, though," she said.

"Huh? Who?"

"The driver. He was nice."

"Still, you need to be careful. Don’t wear revealing clothes if you're alone. You never know what guys are thinking."

"Were you always this protective? You weren’t like this before."

"Well, you didn’t dress like that before. You were always in jeans and t-shirts."

"Do you prefer me in jeans and t-shirts?" she asked, looking at me with a smirk.

She had taken off her sunglasses and mask. Her eyes were smiling.

"I think I do," I replied.

She laughed but didn’t say anything else until we reached my floor.

I showed her the door code.

"What's with 05-04-04? That’s not your birthday."

I hesitated, then simply said, "It’s a secret."

I invited her inside.

"Sorry it’s not that big," I said.

"It’s nice, actually."

"Are you used to a condo this small?"

"Of course."

I showed her the guest room. "This will be your room. Mine’s the next one, and the bathroom’s right there."

I pushed her luggage into her room.

"Thanks, Z. Are you sure I won’t be bothering you?"

"Of course not. I'll be your personal assistant while you’re here. We’re working at the same TV station, after all."

She smiled, that warm, genuine smile I missed so much.

It warmed my heart to see her happy.

"Are you hungry? We can order, or we can go out."

"Can we order? I want pizza and pasta."

"You’re not on a diet?"

"Nah, I don’t gain weight no matter how much I eat."

"Pizza and pasta, then. I have some wine we can drink. What do you think?"

"Sounds good. Can I take a shower first?"

I let her do her thing and ordered dinner, setting the table for us.

This will be the first time we’ve eaten together since college. Just the two of us.

Why can’t I stop smiling to myself?
