5 Years Ago.....
Vanya crosses the street, heading to orchestra practice when something in a store window caught her eye. She stopped to see comics of the Umbrella Academy sitting there, making her sick to her stomach.
Right then and there she decided to do something risky and unthinkable.....
Vanya entered the shop and purchased the typewriter that was right above the comics she come to hate.My name is Vanya Hargreeves, and this is my story...
It took a few months, but her story about her life in the Umbrella Academy was written and sent off. The publisher was really interested in it and immediately sent it out to be published before it blew up instantly.
We were never a real family. We were our father's creation, family in name... but not in fact.
Dovie is at her usual spot at Griddy's doughnuts, entranced in the book, not being able to look away from the pages.
A hand tapped her shoulder, making her shake herself out of the trance she was in.
She looked over to see Agnes' perky self, holding up a pot of coffee, "Warm up, dear?" "Yes, please. Thank you." Dovie smiled, as Agnes nods, filling up her mug before moving on to the next customers. Dovie took a long sip before getting sucked back into the book.In the end, our brother Ben had died, there was really nothing connecting us. We were just strangers living under the same roof...
Luther is powering through his morning workout, doing his push ups as he reads through the book. He was shocked when he saw it, not believong the stuff that was written on the pages.
...destined to be alone... starved for attention.
Allison was feeling anger and shock as she furiously flipped through the pages. She moved forward in her makeup chair, scrunching her eyebrows, "The hell.." She immediately remembered where she was and leaned back, muttering, "Sorry." The makeup artist nods before getting back to work.
... damaged by our upbringing...
Diego finished the book and immediately ripped the back cover off. He looked at the author photo of his sibling before tapping it to the punching bag. He picked up some boxing gloves and put them on, staring at the the photo. The rage build and build until he was gloved up and began to go wild on the photo, throwing punch after punch after punch.
... and haunted by what might have been.
In the rehab center, in group talk as Klaus checks out reading the book. Ben pops up and beings to read it over his shoulder. Both of the boys are entranced by the words, not able to look away.
"Oh, my god. She wrote that. I can't believe she would say that!" Ben exclaims over Klaus' shoulder. Klaus waves his hand, shushing him before realizing where he was. He looked around giving a apologetic look to everyone before turning back to the book.We all wanted to be loved by a man incapable of giving love...
Five walked past the burnt down book store before going through the rubble for anything he could use. That's when he saw his sister's name on a book. Picking it up, he looked around for a place to sit. Once he found it, he sat down he turned to page one and began reading.
Our father never missed an opportunity to remind me that I'm ordinary... hard thing to hear for a little girl.
Reginald stared at the book, that was personally sent by Vanya before opening up the cover. He saw that there was a small message written on the blank page;
